Posted the trade ISO:cycle Thursday FT: vanilla rye+jk bdbdbd+cw17+ Do most BA's think I'm way off? Would really like some Florida peoples input. Cheers
It's not that you're way off, it's just that you can get any one of the bottles you're offering for a "lower desired" bottle. Nothing from your list matches laterally in terms of rarity or current desirability. As the dust settles, your offer will appear as gracious as it should, but once again, if you had a Thursday and could get an SR71 (or something else currently trading sky high) wouldn't you try that route first?
I can tell you as a local that the Thursday beer was first on tap a few months ago and built a strong reputation locally as (in many people's minds) one of if not the best beer Cycle has done, and these bottles were snatched up largely by the same group of locals, so prying them away will take some convincing. Not saying your offer isn't fair, just providing some context. I would recommend looking at what Nooner 8 has gone for recently...this is going to be in the same category and maybe higher. Full disclosure: I've never tried this beer and have no bottles.
I only got 1 Thursday bottle and I am either trading the entire week as a set or I'm drinking it. It is the best bottle of the week, slightly ahead of Wednesday (Rye Imperial Stout in Rye Whiskey barrels). There's also only 350 or so bottles of essentially a Whiskey BA Huna clone that rivals DB Huna, might be better than DB.
RareR Dos is indeed Rum BA Rare Dos. I haven't seen or heard conformation from Cycle that &+ (Thursday) was RareR base but I believe the draft release of it at Nooner 8 day was, so it would be odd if this bottled version wasn't (at least without mention). Either way, it's delicious. Swore I picked up rum on tap but I've been wrong before.
Doug hasn't said either way, but the nooner 8 release was supposed to be the last of any of the RareR/Rum bottles.
It's possible the amount bottled this time was a hold over and not a new batch on new rum barrels? 3-4 months doesn't sound too crazy.
There are some Thursday bottles floating out there since Tuesday and Wednesday were actually to lowest bottle counts of the week. If I remember correctly, Tuesday might have only been 192 bottles. Therefore not all Thursday bottles are parts of sets. I guess what I am saying is the old "it only takes the right set of eyes" thing.
While it might be true that "it only takes the right set of eyes," with offers for Thursday are like SR-71 or Assassin, it'll be difficult to find those eyes
Undoubtedly... just was not trying to either pump up or deflate the value of Thursday with my statement. But current values are not lending towards allowing a volume of solid more widely available bottles.
Thursday is Prichard's Whiskey BA according to a Cycle bartender. The first round was Rum BA. This is a nice offer! @GoldyD we were just talking about two of these last night... your bottle your call obviously. That JK was fire on tap.
The guy handing out tickets (cardboard numbers) said he was giving out 200. How many extra or spare they had beyond that I don't know. I had #164 and there couldnt have been much more then 200.
I traded sdf b2, la biere de fantaisie, ba behemoth, upland peach, imperial blud, and chevalier bertrand for one.
