Hey BA, I have just noticed that a Brewery is near my hometown, and being used to being able to pop off to the Yards brewery in my college town of Philly whenever, I wanted to check this place out as well. It's called Cypress brewery (In Edison), but I haven't really seen their product around in my local stores or even reviews about their beers anywhere. Have any of you guys tried one? If so, what are your thoughts? My just-forming plans see me going there either Friday afternoon or Monday of next week and if its worth it grab a few bottles. But its lack of a noticeable online footprint interests me.
I've been there twice but haven't been back in several months. Nice guys, nice place. Some of their beers were really good. Some I didn't care for. I could be wrong, but I don't think they've bottled anything yet. Only growler fills.
They just celebrated their 1st Anniversary with a double bottle release, but there were only 200 bottles of each made and I think they sold out fairly quickly. Its a solid place, Charlie (the head brewer) is a really nice guy, but they're still growing and learning. I haven't had anything fantastic from them yet, but some have been really good.
It's always worth your while to visit a local brewery you haven't been to. Pop by, taste the beer they brew and decide if you like. What do you have to lose?
I've been to Cypress Brewing in the past but not recently enough to give it an honest review. With that said, I went twice, and the lineup on the second trip was a lot more bare than the first trip. So you are at the mercy of whatever is on tap. Cypress' website actually keeps current with what's on tap. If you see the 17 Mile IPA, the Double Chocolate Stout or the Vanilla Porter, you are more than fine. If there is one thing they do pretty well, it's porters/stouts. He's had a Strawberry Wheat in the past that was delightful. He has another IPA that was pretty good as well but everything else is pretty much average at best. I think it was mentioned on their Facebook that they actually sold out of bottles from their 1 year anniversary. They don't currently can that I know of. I am planning to revisit soon though. I've been to far, far worse breweries on the East Coast.
I have yet to try any of their stuff but if you're drinking a growler alone, I would stick to a 32oz...especially if you haven't tried the beer yet. Plus, 4 pints of one of those imperial porters could make for a rough morning
You might want to buy a growler before you go there, not sure if it has changed since... but I remember a while back he had only clear growlers.
thinking of going to try and grab a bottle of Cypress Love today or tomorrow..anyone have thoughts on them recently?
The beer was not bad at all. Light with some fruity ipa notes. If it was on draft i would 100% order a glass
