Rarely do I see their beer around town and can't say I've ever had it.

Talked to a buddy who is friends with the owners and it sounds like this definitely boils down to Hellbender being very unhappy with their distributor (which I believe is Hop & Wine). Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I don't want to sit here and talk shit about a brewery going through some struggles, but I honestly can't say that I'm surprised. I've admittedly only had a few of their beers, but never anything I'd be interested in having again. Add that to the difficulty in finding their product (which sounds like it might be the fault of the distributor), and you've really got a recipe for disaster. DC proper may not have that many breweries, but you can't simply exist and hope people will give you their money.
