Hey all. I'm new to the home bar scene. Garage (Man cave) is being built right now. I just purchased a Kegerator conversion refrigerator off of Craigslist. It came with the lines, co2 tank, and empty keg, but no regulator. It also came with an "D" type keg coupler. I'm going to be getting the regulator, but what my real question is...

How easy/safe would it be to switch out the coupler to, let's say, an "S" type that could accommodate different types of beer like Murphy's and other ales and stouts. What kind of equipment would I need? What adjustments would I need to make to the system as it is already?

I spent $80 on everything and the refrigerator was blowing real cold when I checked it out. Seemed like a good deal...

    Thank you all,

    Cheers

There is no science behind changing the coupler - disconnect the nut on top of the D and put the line on the S. The keg is of no value unless somenone will give you the deposit back that was originally paid for it. It is technically still the brewery's property.

switching a couple is as easy as unscrewing a beer nut.

just unscrew and re attach to the new coupler. same for both gas and product line.
easy. replace the rubber washer too.
    Cheers.

Excellent, thank you. Didn't want to unintentionally make a mistake and ruin my system.

Just make sure that the rubber washers dont fall out of the nuts, or just replace them when you make the swap, as this can make you lose a lot of beer/co2.
