Hello all, I will have a 17 hour layover in Dallas (DFW). I'm from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Where can I find some solid bier near the airport, and what should I drink? I'm really praying something sweet is moderate close to airport, taxi fares can get wicked. Thus far I'm unfamiliar with any train system that could be of aid. I'd appreciate any help! Thank you
I am no DFW expert, but I believe you can get to the DART rail (by a shuttle) form DFW. From there, you should be able to get into Dallas and hit up some bars in there. But, I don't live in Dallas nor do I know which places are close to the DART rail downtown. I do know that Craft and Growler is....but that is probably not the best one to go to.
Assuming you aren't here on a sunday, with that time you can take the DFW to Centrepoint station shuttle: http://www.trinityrailwayexpress.org/dfw.html Your options afterwards are: a. TRE+DART into downtown Dallas and nearby areas (Uptown for Common Table, Fair Park for Craft and Growler) b. TRE to downtown Fort Worth, Flying Saucer up there. Could also grab a cab or use the bike share to go down to the Magnolia area where your options open up (Live Oak, Brewed, Zio Carlo, Bearded Lady) Just keep in mind... Plus side: no worries about a car. Down side: travel time is longer. You'll want to set aside minimum 60-90 minutes each direction.
