I have a friend in the Dallas area looking for beers to bring back for me. What are some good lesser known beers, or local favorites he can look for. also any new releases that are readily available. Thanks in advance.

What kind of beer do you want?

I pretty much enjoy it all. Barrel aged stuff, sours, stouts, IPAs, tripels, quads. The only thing I don't really like are wheat beers.

The best easily available beers will be Community Mosaic IPA, Lakewood Temptress, and Deep Ellum Oak Cliff Coffee Ale. You may still find Community Legion Imp Stout, the BA version is supposed to release this week in 4 packs, but will be limited.

The above is pretty accurate. I can't think of anything really high-demand out right now. If he can find any Jester King, those are usually really good. I like Community Public Ale, Lakewood Lager, Four Corners Block Party Porter and Local Buzz but they're just every day drinking beers, nothing fancy. Grapevine Sir William's Brown Ale is supposed to be good. Lakewood may have a couple special release beers still around but I haven't had any of them other than Temptress variants.

Rahr and Sons 10th Anniversary (Milk Stout) gets pretty good reviews on here and should be available. I haven't had it, but I like their oatmeal stout.

Peticolas Velvet Hammer, Wintervention and Lost Epic get good reviews, but I think you'd have to do a growler.

Armadillo Ale Works Brunch Money is worth a try if you can find it.

I've been enjoying Naughty Brewing's offerings lately. They just released Kentucky Streetwalker - an imperial vanilla porter aged in bourbon barrels. Should be easily available.

If they can make it over to Fort Worth, go by The Collective Brewing Project. They still might have some of their Petite Golden Sour on tap. You can get 32oz crowler fills of anything they have. Their other offerings are very worthy of checking out as well.

Agree with a lot of the above

    Temptress
    Mosaic
    Oak Cliff
    Quakertown
    Brunch Money
    Dream Crushed
    Rahr 10th - so good

I just had a Lake Monster out of Austin and was pleasantly surprised. Might be able to land some Christmas Bomb - wasn't nearly as popular as I expected
