I figure I might as well make a DFW run and check out some of the breweries up there on a random Saturday. What is a good DFW bar that serves the largest selection of the DFW local beer (we get all the same out-of-state beer in Austin, so I am just trying to get beer I cannot normally get in Austin).

Suggestions? I always seem to end up at a place like the Flying Saucer and I know there is bound to be something else up there.

I only get to DFW 2-3 times a year, so I'm no expert, but I love love Common Table. Great selection of local and national taps, always very well curated. Food is very good too.

Meddlesome Moth is a great spot too, but for whatever reason I'm partial to CT.

Since DFW local is your main focus, no one is going to beat Craft and Growler in terms of number available in one place. They dedicate roughly 1/3 (about 10-12 ish) of their taps to DFW area breweries. They update their taplist about once a week on facebook:

Otherwise you can hit WBC Bottle Shop and it would also be worth popping into any of the nearby Whole Foods locations for tap only stuff.

I saw common table...but it does not appear to have many locals.

That seems to be my issue whenever I go to Dallas is that I can find good beer bars but none seem to actually have many locals on tap. Maybe I am just spoiled with places like Craft Pride here?

Do they have a bar to enjoy pints at? They seem to have a good tap list that I definitely will be filling up from though.

Made a couple more ninja edits for details :stuck_out_tongue:

But yes - they are a bar, bottle shop, and a growler fill store all in one.

Yup, let me know whenever you go and I'll come grab a beer. I live closeby and would appreciate if you're willing to bring up some Austin only stuff as well.

Besides the usual spots like Flying Saucer and Gingerman, theres the Common Table, Meddlesome Moth, and Goodfriend. I live closer to Ft Worth so I usually hit up their Saucer and usually have a decent local beer selection.

Sorry I had my pager on vibrate.

Craft & Growler has the most dfw local stuff for sure.

Will do. I am looking at sometime in early August and just staying a Saturday night.

I will let you know what happens with that. We can work out what Austin beer you would need if this happens.

Yeah....after doing some intense google research while at work....looks like the breweries that are open on Saturdays are:

    Community (2-5)
    Peticolas (1st and 3rd Satruday 1-3)
    Deep Ellum (12-3)
    Revolver (12-3)
    Cedar Creek (12-7)
    Martin House (2-5)
    Four Corners (3rd Saturday - 12-3)
    Lakewood (12-3)
    Firewheel (11-3)

I cannot go the 3rd Saturday (to clear out a lot of them in a small area), so it looks like I may do the 10th.

Maybe try to fit 3-4 in theoretically (buying one sample glass for my wife and I to share)
    Start northish
    -Firewheel (11-12)
    -Lakewood (12:15-1:15)
    -Deep Ellum (2-3)
    -Community (3:30-5)

Be rushed...but doable. May take out Lakewood to save on some time.

A whole foods just opened in Addison, and I think 12 of the 17 taps are currently Dallas breweries:
DEBC (Numb Comfort, Dallas Blonde, Rye Pils, Double Brown Stout, IPA)
Four Corners (Local Buzz, Paletero, Block Party, Roja)
Peticolas (Golden Opportunity, Velvet Hammer, Royal Scandal)

Also a couple of Revolver beers.

If you come up the 10th and can stick around for awhile on the 11th it would be a great chance to meet some Dallas BA's

Yeah, the tap list when I was there (~6 weeks ago or so) was significantly more local. I think I sampled 6 or 7 beers from Lakewood and Revolver.

That's a rough day, 2 in a day is a challenge here. I would say Lakewood is not the one to cut, they make some great beer, have a nice big brewery, and Wim is a good tour guide.
