I'm visiting the DFW area next weekend for the Cowboys Classic and could use some good beer recommendations. I'm definity going to check out Meddlesome Moth.

What is the best place for purchasing beer to bring home? Are there any good special or one-off releases available right now that I should specifically look for?

Go to Lonestar Beverages in Carrollton or Hall's Grocery in Colleyville for the best local take-home selections. Otherwise, most Whole Foods, Central Market, or Spec's stores will have decent and variable selections.

Jester King just released a new batch of El Cedro, which I highly recommend. This batch is heavy on both cedar and Citra hops, so it will probably age well over the next few months. Otherwise, ask Rick at Lonestar or Fern at Hall's what they have that's not year round and they'll help you tremendously.

For on-premise, go to Meddlesome Moth, The Common Table, Craft and Growler (they do off-premise growlers, too), Strangeways, or Goodfriend.

    That's about it.

    Thanks for the info!

I was specifically wondering about stuff like Black Butte XV, Uncle Jacob's Stout, any special Prairie releases, Hop Delusion, or any other special local releases.

Also, are there any good restaurants recommendations that happen to have good beer selections? My wife doesn't drink beer and is a foodie. So, there are only so many beer-oriented places she'll go to, before she puts the foot demands good food as well. She definitely down with Meddlesome Moth after I showed her the food menu. Any other similar places that have decent beer selections?

    What's that?

Any special blue laws I should be aware of in the DFW area?

Looks like I definitely need to check out this Lone Star Beverages place. Reading lots of good things about them.

The Common Table - not just a decent beer selection, basically one of the best in the area.

Look for BBXXV soon. UJS is gone. Prairie stuff is somewhat standard now (Merica, Ale, Hop), but you can PM chaseabeer and ask if anything else is slated for release soon (he's their brewer). Lonestar may get/have Hop Delusion, but that question is best answered by Rick.

If you like burgers, both Hopdoddy and Goodfriend have great burgers and good beer selections. The Common Table, as air said, is a good all around restaurant. Vickery Park has excellent bar food (mussels are fantastic) and good brew. Look up Lark in the Park as they may also have good beer (haven't personally been) and they're more a foodie's stop than many other local beer bars. Cane Rosso primarily features local beer and has excellent pizza, pasta, and surprisingly, brunch.

Lark's tap selection is a solid notch below every place mentioned. Has high end food but I wouldn't make that a destination if beer is your goal.

Jack Macks Swill and Grill and Holy Grail Pub both have great food and beer if you are in the Plano area. Lonestar is my fav spot to fill the fridge.

Hop Delusion is not good anymore. It was bottled way too long ago and the hops have turned.

DFW, I'm still trying to figure out if I'll be checking a bag on the way down there and if I do I would be up for some IP trades as well.

Hall's for bottles. Not much as far as bars apart from Ron's Corner Tavern or FM Smokehouse.

The airport is far from most good stuff other than Hall's. If you have a car you're relatively close to Lonestar, too.

Maybe someone (Fern?) can speak up about places in FW that are close(ish) to DFW?

Air is spot on for FM or Ron's Corner Tavern, a Mellow Mushroom is also nearby with a Ginger man in the same area. The Mellow has a decent tap selection and some good pizza, I haven't been to the Ginger man yet.
