Headed to Dallas tmrw for a quick work trip.

Staying (I think) downtown near Olive St. Hoping I make it over to Deep Ellum if I have time. Looking to find some Jester King (not sure if around Dallas) if not, looking for a solid beer stop to bring home a bottle or 2 of something local that's worth brining home.

    Recommendations in the area?

    Thanks in advance

Spec's on Walnut Hill should still have plenty of BA Legion Batch 2; don't know if you've read about it but it's very good. The Bottle Shop on Greenville is a nice little spot that has some good local stuff as well

Will you have a car? Downtown is a complete wasteland when it comes to retail beer buying. (also, yes, Jester King can be found in Dallas).

No car, but will be cabbing it from the Convention Center to airport and could make a planned stop on the way...if something is worth stopping at. Anything near/around airport?

I find the BA beer finder not all that helpful for bottle shops in the area which could speak to the wasteland notion.

hall's grocery (liquor store & bottle shop) in colleyville. one of the best in the area and about 5 minutes from dfw airport. totally worth a stop.

    Use Uber/Lyft and no cabs.

From downtown, you can take a 5 minute train ride on the Green Line to Craft and Growler. They usually have 4+ bottles of Jester King and other locals. Or get a growler fill and a flight of locals. Great place.

Got my bottle of Jester King ("Mad Meg") - wish I could have spent more time at Craft and Growler, but it was literally in and out for 1 bottle to fit in my luggage. It was very good and will surely stop in C&G next time in the DFW. Cheers all

Gotta piggyback off this thread to avoid a new thread. I am going to be in Dallas this Fri 2/27/15. Going to be at a wedding near the Adolphus, flying into Dallas Love Field, and spending a little time in Rockwall. Going to have a car, but prefer not to drive around the entire city, pretty busy from Fri-Mon. Any good bottle shops or craft bars in those areas? Thx for the help.

Whole Foods at Park/75 and Specs & Total Wine at Walnut Hill/75 aren't too far out of the way to Rockwall. Those are probably your best bets.

Near the Adolphus you have Craft & Growler, Meddlesome Moth, Common Table, and Ginger Man within a couple of miles. The first two are excellent, while Common Table usually has some nice things on with a smaller tap list. Ginger Man is basically next door to Common Table, but can be hit or miss as far as taps go.

Any newer breweries that distro? Coming from Kansas City if that is any reference. Appreciate the heads up on bottle shops.

Seekabrew is so out of date at this point I'm not sure I can be of any help there. I know Funkwerks distros in DFW now. You can take a look at social media to get an idea of what's been recently released (e.g. Lone Star's twitter: https://twitter.com/lonestarbev)

Based on my relatively limited exposure to KC shops, I would say that in addition to TX breweries, you will also find some Colorado breweries well represented. I would look for Total Wine and/or Spec's stores for widest choice.

Yeah I noticed Seekabrew is out of date. The big 2 that we don't get in KC is Jester King & Saint Arnold. Didn't know if there was anything out there that is worth while. I appreciate the heads up on the bottle shops. It looks like 1001 Wine & Spirits is really close to my hotel, anyone know if that is a good bottle shop?

Hey guys, heading down to Dallas on 3/18-3/23 from New York.. Anything coming out in the next couple weeks I should look for? Mostly interested in stouts and sours, maybe some good ipa's.. Should be a good amount of stuff available that I have no access to here.. Does texas get epic? I've been looking for a big bad baptist

Big Bad Baptist will be easy to locate. Lots of Epic floating around.

We do get epic, and you should find their brews including bbb at Total Wine and Spec's. These shops have multiple locations and will have plenty of variety. There are also some very good independents, I've had good experience with Lone Star and Hall's. (Just a note: bbb has multiple releases, each with somewhat different coffee/cocoa. You may want to pay attention to the number on the label.)

For local stouts, I'd recommend looking for St.Arnold's Divine Reserve #15, and the BA Legion.
For sours, I've seen Jester King bottles, but other members should chime in if they are worth spending on.
For IPA, I recommend looking for Yellow Rose on tap, but you may find bottles too.

I expect others to chime in with additional advice (especially if you give us more details about the neighborhood you will stay in).
