Flying down to DFW for the thanksgiving game. Wondering what brews or hot spots are down there that I should check out. Thanks for the insight in advance. Cheers

If in Dallas, maybe hit up Spec's/Total Wine/Central Market as they all carry a good range of brews. The Bottle Shop on Lower Greenville has a pretty good craft tap list, and the new Craft and Growler by Fair Park just opened has a good selection of taps, mainly local stuff. Check out their FB pages.

Actually staying in Lewisville, I understand that's outside of Dallas. This is my first trip there, currently residing in Richmond, VA

Gingerman should have Live Oak Hefe and 512 Pecan Porter... Both world class beers and Live Oak Hefe is even in the top 100

Where you are - Gingerman is a great place to go - 1512 E Southlake Blvd - Southlake, TX 76092 Also if you have time and want to grab some bottles to return with - check out Halls. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/4183/?view=beerfly&ba=allengarvin

With these two places - you can get almost anything we have to offer in the metroplex. Gingerman was serving up cask Pumpkinator last time I was there (few days). They typically have something on cask.

If you're in Lewisville I'd make the "short" drive to Lone Star Beverages. Rick carries an excellent selection and he is great to talk beer with.

I would also recommend The Holy Grail Pub in Plano/Frisco area. From I-35, if you take 121 North (tolls) about 5-7 minutes it's on Preston near 121. Worth the drive for 512 Pecan Porter and Peticolas Royal Scandal. Good food too.

I wouldn't really recommend the food there, but their beer selection is decent. There are plenty of better places near Lewisville and even "near" (especially by DFW standards) Holy Grail that offer better eats.

A friend of mine really likes Jack Mac's http://jackmacsswillandgrill.com/ for food and drink. The food is slightly on the pricy side, but still relatively reasonable; dishes are ~$9-15. I believe they have only Texas beers on tap, though I can't speak to the selection since I went during Dallas beer week (when they had only Dallas beer on tap).

Well then, I guess I stand corrected.

If your in lewisville, head north about 20 mins and hit up oak street draft house in denton. They have a good selection and the prices are great. The atomophere is fantastic, it's an old house off the square. They don't have any bottles to go but a good bottle shop is very close, midway Mart on Carrel between hickory and oak. Oak street has an outside bar and be sure to ask why they have out there. It's only opened on weekend nights or somthing but last time a bartender walked me out there and let me pick what beer I wanted
