Deep Ellum is just across the highway from there. Deep Ellum Brewery is just over a 1 mile walk and Braindead Brewpub is closer. I've liked some of Deep Ellum beers but when I went there I had trouble distinguishing the beers. They all just tasted like the same IPA. The other central Dallas breweries are also close by. Peticolas is the best with a variety of beers.
Oh. If you like Americanized Thai food you can go to Malai Kitchen in north Uptown. They have a handful of home brewed beers. If you like lagers their Bia Hoi is a great rice lager. They supposedly have a good juicy IPA although I don't know if that's at the Dallas location or will still be on.
