I should have known better than to ship a growler without a plastic bag to catch any leakage. A box with a 64oz growler of Kane Overhead, a bomber of Stone Ruination 10th Anniversary, and an extra had its entire contents "completely damaged" and removed by the FedEx inspector after the growler apparently leaked in transit. Current status: "Labeled package, missing contents." Cool. Lucky for my trading partner, Stone Enjoy By just hit the shelves here!

Damn, that's unfortunate. Just wondering, how did you pack the growler?

Lid cranked, taped and double taped. Tons of bubble wrap, no room for anything to budge. I suspect it was heat leading to some off-gassing inside the vessel.

Yeah, that sucks. I had a growler leak a little but was still delivered. I started ziploc-ing growlers after that with no issues since. Sucks because Overhead is just so damn good.

why does this happen more often to growlers than bottles? is it simply just the fact that bottles are crimped correctly?

Growlers aren't designed to take the rigors of shipping.

Indeed! Next time I think I'll try two 32oz swingtops.

Usually I put in clothes (or some of my panty collection ) when shippiing growler so in case it leaks, all the liquid will be soaked up.
