My wife is currently on a business trip in Copenhagen. She asked if there was anything I would like for her to bring me back. I don't know much about breweries in Denmark and was looking for recommendations. I like most styles, but am not too keen on barleywines.
If you're looking specifically for Danish beer, Mikkeller and To Øl are kind of the two head of the herd craft breweries. Denmark does get really great distro from other European countries and from North America as well though. Depending on what's convienient for her, Ølbutikken, Barleywine, and the Mikkeller and Friends Bottle Shop will all likely have some gems. You can get a feel for what they might have in stock via their websites and social media (use the Mikkeller webshop as a proxy for the M&F bottle shop). She'll almost certainly be able to find the basic Cantillon bottles (geueze, kriek, rose) around town if that's something you're after.
She should most deffinately go to BarleyWine and speak to Jan or his wife. They can help you out to get the best out of denmark. There is also a small store with only scandinavian brews so also from Norway and Sweden. Totaly lost the name...will get back with the name soon. To ÖL and Mikkeller is off course the two best, but dont forgett Amager och Det Lille bryggeri who can do some great stuff.
The store I meant was Den Nordiska Ölhandel. Has beer from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Finland.
Thanks y'all. My wife said this was very helpful. She won't tell me what she got though; said it will be a surprise.
