So, I want to make a crazy danky IPA. I was planning on using Simcoe/Columbus to give me the "dank flavors". Here is what I came up with. Let me know what you guys think... (end up with 5.5 gallons in the bucket @ 75% Eff)

    O.G. - 1.074
    F.G. - 1.016
    IBU - 147 (cal)

    Mash @ 150 for 90 mins
    15lbs Golden Promise (89.5%)
    .5 Crystal 20L (3%)
    .5 Wheat (3%)
    .75 lbs Corn sugar (4.5%)

    Hops:
    Mash:
    1 oz Columbus

    Boil:
    1oz Columbus - 90min
    1 oz simcoe - 90 min
    1 oz simcoe 30 min
    1 oz Columbus 10
    1 oz simcoe 10
    1.5 oz simcoe (whirlpool @180ish 30 mins)
    1.5 oz Columbus (whirlpool @180ish 30 mins)

    Dry hop:
    2 simcoe - 10 days
    2 Columbus 10 days

    Yeast: WL001

Please give me your input on this. Thanks!

If you have any Apollo, that would take your dank, and up it!

Should I drop Columbus or simcoe and add that?

That really depends. I personally don't get a whole lot of dankness from Simcoe. It's way more delicious than that. Personally, I've found Citra to be more dank than Simcoe, but still not super upfront with it. I think Columbus and/or Apollo could help accentuate the dank aspect of either of those hops, but if you want to be sure, go with a higher amount proportionally of Columbus and/or Apollo.

Keep the Simcoe, just layer in a little Apollo late or in the dry hop.

I used apollo and summit recently and the beer might be too dank for my tastes, will find out in a couple weeks for sure.

I find Mosiac hops to be super dank. Also agree on Amarillo for dankness. Amarillo, Citra, Mosiac IPA = the sticky ickee dankness.
