    Hi all,

    I'm heading to West Danville, VT from NYC next weekend for a two weeks long family vacation. Looking for any recommendations mostly for either kids-friendly places with food/entertainment or something worth visiting with family nearby and also get cans or draft beers.

    The plan so far is:
    • stop at Whetstone Station for lunch and get cans at Brattleboro Food Co-Op on the way to Danville;
    • get to Stowe (probably multiple times) for Alchemist, Lost Nation, and maybe Von Trapp;
    • possibly get to Burlington and stop at Fiddlehead, Foam, anything else?
    • Lawsons's and/or Frost are very tempting, but I'm not sure how easy it would be;
    • Red Barn is right there as well as Barrel to Bottle store, so probably will end up there one way or another;
    • and last, but not least, Hill Farmstead.
    Am I missing something worth checking out? Also, I'm familiar with a few of these places, but don't know how easy it would be to drag the family to and get beers at places like Foam, Hill Farmstead, Frost, or Lawson's.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!

    Hill Farmstead has plenty of outdoor space for kids to run around and cornhole.

    Lawson’s is super kid friendly. Free games to play.

    Kingdom Taproom in St Johnsbury has great beer and good food, relatively kid friendly.

    Also will be about 30 minutes from Montpelier, which has bunch of good spots, including Three Penny Taproom

    Another vote for Kingdom Taproom (and their newer spot upstairs called Kingdom Table) in St. Johnsbury. And depending on where you're staying, you're only about 35 min to HF. If you love good beer and are staying in the area for 2 weeks, you owe it to yourself to get there!

    Kingdom Taproom & Table looks good, thanks for the tip. HF is certainly in the plans. Considering I'm not looking for a specific release, is there any particular day of the week when HF or Lawson’s are less crowded?

    Thursday afternoons for hill farm. Crowds really are not a problem at Lawson’s. If going to Foam check out the echo center for the kids,

    I would suggest making a stop at River Roost in White river junction, they are brewing some of the best ipas in VT right
    now (I think) and there’s a very good bbq and Mexican restaurant right in the area. Draft list at the Mexican restaurant is pretty good

    Do they have a regular release schedule? Based on their website there is only one lager on tap at the moment and nothing else. I think it was the same last year, so we never made it there.

    And a Cambodian place with River Roost on tap right up the road.

    They do not have a release schedule. What they have listed is the beer they have at the present time.

    New cans and bottles for each week are typically posted on Sunday (sometimes Saturday night) for the upcoming week.

    Draft availability can change day-to-day. There are typically plenty of drafts available for on-site consumption and growler fills. No need to worry.

    As far as lagers go, they only really make 2 or 3 different ones total, but they also brew these same lagers in wood-conditioned formats with different names. For instance, Mary is a German-style pils that is called Poetica in its wood-conditioned state. Marie, a helles, becomes Memoria.

    Best bet is to check the website for availability. They are pretty good about updating it.

    The only thing that I think isn’t usually listed on the website is what bottles are available for on-site consumption only. In my experience, these bottles change from day-to-day.

    Anyone with better info., feel free to correct me or add more if need be.

    Past few times I’ve been they usually had a couple cab offerings. Not sure how up to date they keep it but they also post on Instagram when they are releasing a beer. Think they do growler fills

    Good to know. I'll keep an eye on IG and their website.

    No worries, HF is definitely in the plans.

    Red Barn is good stuff. It occasionally shows up at Blackback and I have always been favorably impressed.
