A friend brought me a growler of their Black Ale. I was wondering if they used counter pressure or should I plan on drinking this within the next day or so? It has been kept it cold since Sat.
Kzoobrew is correct, however, I have found that in general, growlers from DH last much longer than I would have expected. This has happened to me on a couple of occasions by accident. I forgot about the growlers on the back of the shelf in my cellar and found them later.
Drink it at your leisure, but then yell at your friend for not bringing it to you in a 6-pack (or two). I see that you are in Schererville, so a quick trip to New Buffalo could get you some of that fine beer bottles in the future.
they are still bottom filled, shouldnt that help with the carbonation issues, thus making them last a while?
We get plenty of Dark Horse here in NWI, so that's not a problem. The friend of mine is actually a 60 year old co-worker who happened to be in Marshall this past weekend. It was a nice surprise and now I have an excuse to visit the brewery for a refill. Thanks for the feedback.
I've had 2 month old growlers from many breweries that don't counter pressure fill. All have been just fine.
Sorry to intrude but I have a stupid question. How do you say growler? Grow..ler like I'm growing some crops or Growl..er like that dog just growled at me?
I got one last time I was there earlier this and I waited a week before I cracked it and it was just as good as on tap...and by the way its been on tap at a bar in highland for the past week.
Thanks, yeah I know where it is on tap locally...not concerned about freshness here. I was just curious about their filling method and more excited about the growler itself than the brew . Cheers!
