So I buy a plead the 5th tonight, pour half of it in the glass, and it's really good. Then I pour the other half in and "Kerplunk", a giant cream colored chunk falls in the glass, a third of it floats, and the rest sinks. I know crooked tree had a lot of sediment in it, but is this normal for plead the 5th.

Never had anything come out, but every Pt5 I've ever had has had a solid layer of brown gunk on the bottom of the bottle

It's just a compilation of all the beards that made the beer possible. You should be okay as long as you don't try to drink/eat all of it.

    Thanks jimbobebop, needed that.

Actually I was done with the beer before the pic request came in, and I didn't eat it or smoke it, but I was damn surprised with the size of the solid matter that plopped from the bottle.

Very normal for Dark horse stouts. You should see the bottom of a Tres Blueberry bottle.

Pretty normal for a lot of their beers. I would say avoid shaking the bottles around and if u do, let them settle for a bit. Also when ur pouring, just leave a tiny bit in the bottle. U can usually see it on the bottom and also when pouring the last bit from the bottle u will see the color start to change where the sediment is starting to flow out.

Honestly I think this thread comes out every year about this time about a different beer. Last year I saw it for Founders IS. So yes, it happens to the best of em. I've never personally had it happen with anything other than FIS, but you can almost always see a thick layer at the bottom of PT5th. If I'm ever worried, I use a common kitchen strainer. I did that for a while after it happened with FIS a couple years back. So far it's never dropped in my glass again, so I haven't worried about it for quite some time.
BTW, I'm voting for smoking it. Kinda wish you made this a poll though and then posted picks doing whatever wins... :slight_frown:
