Yeah, it's great. I've heard the '09 is the goopiest of all the DL's. That being said. Try not to have any more than an 8oz serving. If you overindulge, it will be wise to subsequently get checked for sugar diabetes.

Now that I think about it, maybe that's not a DL, that beer is far too under attenuated to develop a yeast cake.

OP, ignore the riff-raff Dark Lord haters.

The one I opened a few weeks ago didn't have sediment at the bottom, so I would agree with Max and say open that puppy soon! It won't do any physical harm or anything, it just might not be quite the beer it once was (though, admittedly, the '09 was one of my least favorite vintages).

Very sweet, and definitely the most soy-saucy characteristic of any of the vintages I've had. Some people loved the '09, but it wasn't my thing. I wrote up a mini-review of some tasting notes here. Hope that helps!

The goopiest is by far 2004... I'm talking that thing poured out brown and chunky (nowhere close to black) and was the consistency of half dissolved Swiss Miss powder.

Other than 2004, 2009 was my least favorite in flavor excluding 2012 because our vertical was last year and I haven't had it yet to compare..

Well, damn... I had no idea about any variations, looks like we simply had one of the terrible ones (though there was one guy there who liked it, so almost everyone was giving him the pours of 2004).. Haha, nasty
