Agreed. Looking back, the best part is that the basic structure of the event is intact. The looks on everyone's faces about their knowing that 'this is awesome' is still there too. FFF is still trying to do what is best for the community at large - the fact that there are 60x as many people 7 years later who are able to be inside the gates at DLD shows just how difficult the event has become to manage.

I just went on FFF's website to buy tickets and they are sold out @_@. This would be my first one, and I've been thinking about going for months now. Anyone know where you can buy tickets since they are sold out on their site? I saw some on stub hub but they are ******edly priced instead of the 15 bucks. Let me know, this would be an awesome event to partake in.

Tickets sold out in minutes. You have to be Johnny on the spot to get tickets, and even then it's unlikely you'll get them.

Your only options now are to spend a fortune, MAYBE find someone who isn't a douche who will sell you their tickets for cheap, or just miss out on this DLD.

Plus, I hate to say it but the mere fact that you thought there would be tickets on the site makes me think you aren't ready for Dark Lord Day! ...(just messin' with ya!). Good luck, hope you can score some tickets.

Haha, I hear ya there, I didn't read the thread carefully enough, sounds like I'm not the only one who missed out. Never realized how crazy DLD was to get tickets. Maybe I'll find someone who'll sell them for a decent price.

Tickets sold out in less than a minute. Some people got lucky that others computers had errors and got single tickets later. It's like that every year.

They tend to drop in price after a week or two, and then skyrocket right before the event, if 2011 and XV are any indicator. NO I don't know from selling. I know from friends biting the bullet and buying.

I've gone to DLD for the past three years and have loved it every single time. This year, however, I'm sad I will be missing out but I think one of my best friends wedding is a bit more important...I'll get a bottle or two another way

I hop what you're saying about tickets comes true for me. Let me know where the ticket tree is . Seriously, my search has not yielded anything so far. If anyone knows of any available tix (other than tht auction site etc.), I'll find a way to make worth your while. Cheers!

Question for the DLD pros - is it worth it to get into line really early? I was thinking of getting there at like 7 AM. We have Group A tickets.

My plan is to go in, grab the Dark Lord, then try to get into the brewpub.

"Really early" will likely be well before 7 AM. With the unfortunate line situation from XV and no communication (to date) about how the line will be run this year, there is, unfortunately, more urgency by people to get there earlier rather than later this year.

On the bright side, if you wait in line longer, you can guarantee yourself a cooler, a chair, and a grill if you come properly prepared for a longer period of time.

    Decisions, decisions...

If you're going to go that early, my advice would be to go into the brewpub first, get pours of whatever you're looking for, and then go get in line for bottles. Last year I had group C tickets and got there around 7 a.m. (I think). Headed straight for the brewpub. Pours of Oak Aged and Vanilla to my heart's content.

Hmm.. Maybe we'll get there earlier then. I just remember waiting in line for literally 6 hours total at XV, but we didn't arrive til 2 PM.

Either way, I'm bringing beer, snacks, and friends so it won't be too bad.

I REALLY doubt they are going to run the line like they did at XV. That is the single biggest complaint about the XV party and it has been voiced over and over and over again. Why would they take something they did well last year at DLD and replace it with something that worked terribly at XV? Makes no sense.

The only ways I've known of are via trades with people, usually for rare variants of DL, or from the gougers on Craigslist and eBay. It's unfortunate, but these are the new standards of the rare beer scene.
