Elimination of groups and just opening it up as first come first serve on variants to all 10k-12k attendees?

Can you imagine how early the first person would line up? A week before with the mule in tow??! I could see it.

For anyone who has read/seen The Hunger Games, I'm thinking maybe all of the bottles are set up at a central location (a la the conrnucopia) and everyone is armed (it's Indiana after all). You go to the bottles at your own peril.

They will go back to their roots, no tickets, no fences, bands inside the brewery warehouse, and one huge line. It would look something like this:

Is Todd the axeman going to get his own variant?

DLD 2018- The year Nick Floyd converts to a conservative religion that abstains from the vices of alcohol and thus Dark Lord becomes a non-alcoholic cold brew coffee, but he fails to tell anyone until AFTER they have purchased tickets. Bonus points if the cardamom variant of the DL winds up being the best....

Could you imagine the sheer number of line cutters that would be caused by the line doubling back on itself like this.

If I were in the short side of the line I would be looking across and offering cuts to the people holding the best bottles.

In an hour I will have not moved an inch and be too sauced to realize it is a Dragon Abortion concert.

I'd like them to just do everything they did last year but have variants available for all tickets sold. And also allow people who have entered once not have to go back to the end of the line again to re-enter. Not a hot take or a burning comment. I'm a simple man.

One of these years it'd be nice if they made variants more available on draft. Like, make enough so that there is always a variant on somewhere in the festival and things don't run out right away. That's a pipe dream, I know.

I thought we'd been slacking off lately due to the BCBS drama, but I looked at last year's thread and we only were on page 6 when December rolled around. I'm feeling much better about all of us now.

I really still don’t understand the draft game. Is there a particular place to go or be to get the good stuff? I think I just tried oil of gladness and someone handed me a fresh DL17, but I never even saw variants posted.

How do I win dark lord day?

Sacrifice socializing by bringing as many friends as there are tap stations, then split up to each tap station, repeatedly get told to get out of line by the volunteers, then text everyone when you see that a variant gets tapped. Don't worry, by the time you all gather at that tap station the keg will be kicked.

Or like me, every time you remember there are tap stations, (like once every 83 minutes), do two laps around the fest until you realize the only thing that came of it was you just burned some calories and that's about it.

I actually liked the one guy's strategy of waiting at the exits of the lines when something gets tapped and asking people for a sip of whatever they just bought. Herpes share notwithstanding, good idea :thumbs up:

They were posting locations to the variants on Twitter. Don't remember if it was their main one or the DLD one. I didn't realize this until after the fact. Ronaldo was on tap at open, so I just jumped in there right away.

I've been to last 3 DLDs and I've never been able to get a pour of any variant. Have never even seen one, and last year I was actively making rounds all day (from beginning to the end).

DLD should just be Fobab with paid beer stations....

I camped out next to the draft station next to the giant share area. Waited for a while and just drank what I had/whatever people walking by had. Once they finally tapped a variant (dwarven I think) I let the rest of my crew know and they came running. It wasn't a terrible way to go, but it wasn’t exactly exciting.
