it wasn't my first beer of the day, but it was my first draft pour of the day.

Hey beer brethren, i have a question for some of the vets out there; I have a 2015 Bourbon Barrel aged dark lord comin in the mail. Usually when I go after big bottles I try my best to research it as best I can to make sure everything is copacetic. Seeing it’s a waxed bottle, does anyone know if the cap used for BA variants that year were the traditional green and pink spiral cap or just plain? And I believe if my research is correct it was a purple wax as well? Just trying to see what I should be lookin for when I receive it. Thanks in advance for any help/info.

2015 is the maroon wax I think.

http://darklordday.info is your historical archive destination for all things DLD. It's purple wax according to http://darklordday.info/index.php/Dark_Lord_Day_2015

Also the BBADL was 603 bottles that year so your bottle should reflect this.

Yes, purple, and I lean strongly towards yes on the cap question too. I have never had a DL or DL variant cap not be the classic pink/green, but can't say for 100% certain on this specific bottle as I haven't opened a 2015 BADL.

It seems like you’re all in line for CTM and Handjee already for 2019 DLD, while there’s no wait for Your Mom’s Name is Yanny, a Scotch barrel aged Smoked Dark Lord, made with Cuban cigar ash.

Guest taps. Our group drank a bunch. We mostly went back and forth between the Necron and YumYum stations. Here’s a list of some of what we got.

    Gigantic Macallan aged Massive! Barleywine
18th Street Here comes the reaper
    Urban chestnut Stammtisch Pilsner
Oxbow Barrel Aged Pale Ale w Raspberries
ATG Bo and Luke Sassafras wood
    Prairie Pink Guava Funk
    Pizza Port Jetty
    Oxbow Luppolo

I doubt these satisfy the lofty demands some folks have on what they believe the guest taps should be, but I was pretty thrilled to grab a Pilsner, fruit, or hoppy beer to cut all the big stouts and barrels, especially as the sun came out. I always love the guest taps, regardless if they’re whales or not.

Thoughts on this year's base DL compared to last years? (17 was damn tasty compared to 2016...)

I did experience some weird line behavior - checked in on friends and brought them beers in line a couple times, sharing along the way, to have people yell at me. Very concerned I was trying to cut, I guess. Also had a dude bragging about his fundamental forces, holding it up and getting pours from people, and never opening it. Pretty sure he walked away with the Doppelgänger I handed him for a pour.

I’m in that second line, but you can’t see me, since I’m resting on my LAURELs.

I had Skullpiercer from the Answer. It was pretty good.

Does anyone else feel like we're getting the same questions over and over post-DLD, similar to what would occur leading up to DLD?

Did anyone have any good guest taps?

How does this year's DL compare to prior years?

If you liked 17, you’ll like this one. Nothing like 16 IMO.

I had 17 and 18 side by side late in the fest. It may have been pallet fatigue, but I would have had a difficult time telling them apart without knowing.

For some context, I loved 17 fresh and hated 16, so I was very happy with 18.
