Dark Lord (2018)

I'd be down for those two in a heartbeat, but all the others are almost readily available during the shares. While I really enjoyed the Hill Farmstead drafts I've had there in the past, especially when it was even more difficult to get them back in the day, I never spend enough time by draft lines to see them change frequently. I really don't know how to hit all the other stuff, hang with my group effectively sharing, and see the lines. I do a couple of rounds 5-10 times during the fest, rapid perimeter walk, but rarely see anything.

The base DL beer sucks, and no one in their right mind thinks it is good. I mean, why would you drink it?

The guest taps suck, as they don't have a guest tap immediately adjacent to every table in the bottle share tent.

Whalz don't swim up to DLD; evidently, they are kept in tanks down in Florida so that they can be harvested for Huna Day. Or Armistice Day. Or Arbor Day....

The share tents are too big. (Said by someone who evidently never experienced DLD with no tents. Back in the day, bottle shares were experienced only by those who walked uphill to DLD, and then home, both ways, through a driving snow, to share their rare Orca). (Sidebar, your honor - I think my last comment accurately depicts the weather in maybe '09? Or '16?)

2016 sucked for a lot more reasons than just the tap list.

 

Remember that scene in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory with the Chocolate river? They are supposed to have a continuous river of Dark Lord variants. That’s why the taps suck, because of Dark Lord River.

Augustus Gloop fell into the Dark Lord - that explains the sweetness! Also, BVDL is infected because of the oompa loompas.

 

I like the taps. I don’t expect whales though. I can try beers I’ve never had before...a few years ago I really dug the dilemma of Hill Farmstead Edward, Brandy Barrel Abyss, Mikkeller Black Hole, Todd the Axe Man, all right next to each other. Given, these aren’t the rarest beers in the world, but if you saw any segment of the DLD guest tap list at your favorite bar (or any watering hole), people would be thrilled.

 

Not sure if I should suggest a DL Variant aged on Veruca Salt or Veruca Salt as a musical act.

How quick did tickets sell out last year after the move from choose your variant to randomized variants?

 

After a cart time out, I still got a group E ticket navigating to the website at 1215. I heard rumors of people getting in as late as 2 but not sure how true that was.

 

I believe the move to random was announced after ticket sales, which is why so many group A's were upset.

 

I was still pulling singles for Group D-E from 2-3pm last year. Pub sales were extremely easy as well. Lasted for hours.

Demand is not what it used to be.

 

I recall seeing tickets pop up well into the later afternoon, possibly evening--I waited a long time and ended up not buying because we were uncertain, only to piggy back on someone else's +1s later.
