So, after a phenomenal day yesterday, was interested in hearing everyone's stories as to how their day went, good or bad.

We parked in a lot right behind the War Memorial and set up a tailgate. Had a ton of food and our group had some real beer advocates. I got to try some of the best beers I've ever had, BC Prop, Black Tuesday, Hunahpu, Speedway, the list goes on. Our group's bottle sales times were staggered throughout the day so we got there around 6 am and ended up leaving around 8:30 pm. We went in and out of the festival all day and really had a great all around time. Met some cool people and drank... A lot. Can't wait until next year.

I'm hoppy for your good time. Days that become festivals that turn quickly in to wait fests lose my interest.

Can anyone put together the list of what variants there were?

For example is "The Earl" the brandy DL? I can't seem to get a solid answer on this.

We had an awesome time. I've only gone the past 3 years, but this year felt the most organized. Guest tap list was on point too. 2008 &2010 DL, VBDL, Rum Zhukov, DB Huna, King Sue, BCBBW, KBS, etc. No complaints here.

same thing happened to me except I got mine back. 2 out of 3 of us won our golden tickets so we first went to that line. after purchasing vanilla & cognac DL i put my ticket down for just a sec. On my way to the reg DL sales table i realized i didnt have my ticket anymore so the guys at the first table pointed to a dude who was being interviewed on camera and i rudely interrupted. i said "hey man those guys at the table said you took my DL ticket!" he said give me a sec. i let him finish his interview (hope that ends up on youtube!) and he came up to me and when i confronted him he admitted taking it and gave it back. He said he didnt know who it belonged to. Sure I thanked him for his honesty but then he even said if we find any other tickets to give them to him. not cool.

I had a blast! Was my first DLD and I hope I'm lucky enough to go every year. Tons of generous BA's offering up pours of everything. My wife didn't go and I explained to her it was kinda like Cedar Point waiting in lines but for beer insread of rides with the addition on much better background music.I only ventured over to the guest taps once and got myself a Rue D Floyd. Was an excellent beer. Also tried on tap 11' Darklord and Brandy Darklord which is awesome! I didn't much enjoy the first few bands, but the end of the bands was lots of fun. Was bummed when the Dark Matter guy was announcing to people in line they messed up and the time slot releases were all gone before they even got to the first one. Zombie Dust carry out ran out about the beginning of group C timeframe about 50 in front of me. . Overall was an awesome day!

Where to start.. Met a few folks in Group A line and shared some great beers (PsudoSue,KBS). The line for Dark Lord went quick (15-20 mins) as compared to last year when it took 3 hours to make it through D. From my group of 4, three people scratched winners! (VB for myself and Biggleswade for the other two)

When walking back to the car to drop off our bottles, some dude with a tent on the south entrance offered my buddy $100 for him to open the Biggleswade and pour him 4oz and to keep the bottle (a collector). He took him up on it and another guy from his group offered up a Boulevard Brewing BBQ for 2 oz... We drank the rest. Bonkers.. Then I was offered $200 for the VBDL.. didn't do it (dumb.. maybe but i really want to try this damn beer).

Later in the day watched Vulgaari, eyehategod and High on Fire. Mini riot broke out during eye and the barricades got busted down. One of the owners came out (Barnaby?) came out and said the cops would shut them down if the crowd didn't stay behind the barricades. Most were super understanding about it. During HoF I got my foot smashed in the pit and a few dudes fell on it right after.. Couldn't walk worth a damn.. we started hobbling back and I saw Todd Haug (of Surly Brewing) and shot the shit with him.. super nice dude.

Didn't realize how sunburnt I was until we got back to the hotel.. Then ended up going to the ER in the morning because my foot was the size of a football still and couldn't put any weight on it. As I was in the weighting room waiting to hear the prognosis the doctor asked how many bottles I got and if I got a golden ticket.... Had he waved the bill I think I would have parted with the VBDL.

All in all, crazy fun time. World class beers (on tap and sharing with people) and great talking with everyone that loves this stuff as much as I do.

Who has tasted the Earl? How was it?

Earl had a significant cardamom and cinnamon character to it and blended nicely with the sweetness. With some age I think those flavors would mellow out a little more and it would be even better

We got there at 5 AM and were involved in the most epic share of my life. We had every Dark Lord variant from last year, including the vanilla, and every variant from 2012 except the vanilla. DB Hunah, Lou Pepe, Prop, Backyard Rye, Duck Duck Gooze, some Wicked Weeds, CW16, Toppling Goliath... I was pretty gone by 8 AM. In total, I sampled 56 different beers yesterday.

Shit started going downhill around 2 PM, but oh well. Almost had a riot in a food line that they attempted to close off after everyone had been waiting for 40+ minutes.

    Fun times...

Sunburned. Girlfriend was seemingly the last person to miss out on Vanilla DL but was the last person to get Hill Farmstead Society and Solitude.

Shout out to the two dudes from Detroit who hung out with my group for their first Dark Lord. Thanks for sharing the Black Note!

Had a good time didn't get too fucked up, didn't eat all day but somehow managed. My biggest problem is the wind/sun burn to my face, it is brutal. And I gave up waiting in the lines after the first one for that coffee stuff which took like 30 minutes even when i was right up front. I didn't even go near the guest taps for this reason and somehow ended up not spending any money all day (my buddy picked up the cost of the coffee shit and glassware).
