    Hey,

Has anyone heard anything about the event for this year? Interested to go but don't have much information on it so far. The website hasn't updated from last year.

    Thanks

They usually don't announce it or update the site until March, but it is usually the last Saturday in April.

Nothing has been announced or posted. Anything right now is an assumption based on previous years. Go read through the 2015 (or any year) thread, it has anything you need to know about dark lord day.

Yeah like others have said, any info probably won't surface until mid February. Going by years past, tickets generally have gone on sale in mid March and as Kodt stated it's always the last weekend in April.

It has been like that for the past couple of weeks. I've been checking the website daily for a while. :slight_frown:

I wonder if they will be using the same approach to group and ga tickets this year.

    Wish list:

    1) Eliminate general admission tickets. More space, less thieves.
    2) Everybody gets one variant. FFF is bigger. Make it happen.
    3) Dry weather

Mostly want dry weather. Doesn't have to be sunny or tropical, but dry is a must.

Not bad. Here's a suggestion to make this a better event, based on the usual suspects going through the line multiple times until they got a winning golden ticket last year, among other issues.

Upon entry to the event, all bottle ticket holders get their "golden ticket" and two wristbands. Their ticket is either destroyed or torn in half, etc. One wristband grants you re-entry to the event, but it does not allow you to get another "golden ticket". If the "golden ticket" is a winner, you can pick up your 1 bottle in the warehouse at your designated group time.

On your way out of the event at any time, your other wristband is cut off, and with your pre-purchase of your 4 bottles (like Cigar City did last year with Hunahpu's Day), you get a bag with your allocation contained therein.

Bottles will be setup at both the north and south exits in tents, to allow for easy exit when the time comes that you want to leave. This way, should you so desire, you can take your bottles immediately to your car or whatnot and avoid having to worry about them being stolen for the rest of the day. This also allows for more bottle sharing/beer drinking from the taps (i.e., more revenue for FFF) as you're not stuck in an hour+ wait to get through bottle pickup while the event is going on.

They'll never eliminate GA tickets. It's a monster money grab; more profits and zero additional effort outside of checking bags at the entrance (and I think those "checkers" are volunteers...so more $$).

By the way, people were trying to steal DL even before GA tickets were a thing.

Yeah don't get rid of GA, it's nice to be able to go to the fest if you miss out on the instant sell out allotment tickets.

As @TrapJaw77 said, Dark Lord theft has been a thing long before GA.

They do need to address the people who got multiple Golden Tickets though. Perhaps another tear off the lanyard, once that is gone no more Golden Tickets for you.

After having a brain fart last year and forgetting when tickets went on sale, I plan on attempting to get tickets this year. My buddy really wants to go, and neither of us have ever been, so we might as well go for it.

I have a friend who lives in Chicago who I plan on attending with, tried to get tickets last year, but forgot they went on sale and I was at my LHBS. Didn't work on my phone.

This and like 200 extra portable toilets, security, barricades, staging, lighting, and other stuff that isn't free but required to host an event for thousands of people.

Plus with the band lineups they get each year, there are people interested in going who have no interest in BA dark lord variants and rare whalez bottle sharing and just want to see the bands.
