We always have a sleeve or two of plastic cups so we'll have enough for us, guests, and water.

Whatever you are comfortable drinking out of/carrying around all day. I would recommend a small glass/cup (5 oz.) so you aren't that guy taking huge pours of somebody else's bottle. I have used the same Troegs mini snifter each DLD I have attended.

For those of us who are new...why is a coffee company doing the FFF Dark Lord snifters?
Somewhere along the line someone recommended those mini canning jar style salt and pepper shakers with the handle. It's a great sampler size and you can wear it on a string around your neck or tie it to your backpack.

I asked my wife to pick up a set and it turns out we had one buried in a cupboard. I checked it out and I think it'll be perfect. I'm gonna put it on my lanyard with a mini carabiner.

I've mentioned before in here....but I have a little mini mason jar, can be found at Target/Wal Mart as they are technically mini salt and pepper shakers. I clip that to my lanyard with a carabiner. Hands free glassware and you won't lose/break it. And the glasses are small enough that you aren't taking huge pours of beer throughout the day....helps with pacing yourself.

    Pure speculation/history.

    1. 2013 and previous Dark Lord bottles used Intelligentsia Coffee in the recipe. I think Three Floyds did not want to get lumped into the BCBCS family of beers so they went more local with Dark Latter.

    2. Three Floyds has never really been in the game of glassware, occasionally they release Teku glasses (I picked up a few in 2013-2014) but they typically stay out of that game. They most likely partnered with Dark Matter Coffee to produce/sell these glasses because Three Floyds does not like having hundreds of glasses sitting in inventory post-DLD (shit, they have DLD t-shirts for a year after the event) and it was probably in some exclusivity agreement that Dark Matter has the rights to sell DLD glassware.

I hope all my bottles fit!

Because the Soy Sauce company passed on supplying them.

This sounds like a solid idea, so I decided to try it this year.... $2 for each glass at Target and $2 for each lanyard at Lagunitas.

This was actually started by Intelligentsia in 2010. They sold coffee in mini-snifters with the FFF Logo on one side and the Intelligensia logo on the other - they were white. They did the exact same in 2011, then it seemed to me like a good way to sample their coffee and get a cool souvenir. They also sold glass coffee mugs with coffee drinks at the XV Anniv party. In 2012 they switched it up and sold coffee in mini imperial pint glasses with red logos then went back to the original mini snifters in 2013, this time with orange logos. People really went nuts over these glasses and they sold out really quick. Given the demand for these glasses, it only make sense that Dark Matter would continue this, except they've taken it a good bit further.

As someone else mentioned earlier, it's also just one less thing to worry about/deal with when planning the event. I would agree with your thoughts on it. Intelligentsia did a mini snifter in 2011, regular taster in 2012, and mini snifter in 2013. Then Dark Matter has done 3 different mini snifters plus coffee mugs each of the last two years and the goblet/weapon last year in addition to the minis/mugs. I'd like to see them go back to just one mini snifter. As a glassware collector, the glass is a high priority for me on DLD....

The white mini was also sold in 2010? I thought it was 2011 only.......that's an interesting piece of info I was unaware of. I still love the red taster from 2012.

You have to make time for The Brew Kettle in Strongsville. It is literally 2 minutes off of I-80 and has some amazing brews.
