I hope they sell those breakfast tacos before the gates open again, those things were great

They only set that up at the south gate last year, and I was A group so I sat in the north gate line as requested with my stupid granola bar. I'm going to have to grab breakfast this year..

I can't drink 10-12 bombers and I don't want to carry them along with another 5 of DL. I'll be bringing more than I can drink, so I won't consider myself mooching pours 'cause if I'm out, I'll already have given away more than I can drink. Also, I plan to make extensive use of the guest taps, so I think I'll be fine.

Everyone should do what's best for them....

100% agreed. Having an attitude about sharing one's beer is exactly missing the point...especially a week and a half before the event takes place. Considering most of my hopes and dreams lie on what's in those taps, I share, or entirely give away, pretty much all of the liquid I bring and have no expectations on what others allow me to partake in. Being concerned about moochers at DLD is one step away from charging fellow sharers for a pour.

If it's that precious, don't bring it.

Plus I want to be relatively undrunk before I get in, unlike last year.

I am bringing, among other things, A Red Dog and Bud Ice I recently found. Who's gonna do a cuvee chug?

I always end up taking more than I consume but some of that is to see what people actually want to try. For me, and I'm sure this is the same for a lot of others, It's more about bringing what you want to share with others and not as much about what you want to drink yourself. For me, that's more what the guest taps/FFF taps are for. I've always stayed at the Hamton and park a car in one of the lots around FFF. I get there early and bring a cooler to the line. Drink/share whatever we feel like in line, stick a few things in my backpack and put the cooler back in car before the gates open. Then I can go back to the car and restock my backpack as needed. I usual dont stay after about 6PM and if I have leftover bottles then that's okay. I take the shuttle back to the Hampton and just walk back and pick the car up later when able.

This is a sound plan if you are staying at the hotel!

I'll do something similar. Bring plenty of beer and open whatever your friends want to drink. You may run into someone who is bumming about just missing out on a pour of St Lam or something and you can go, "Hold on, got one in my cooler, let me open it with you." Or you run into an old friend and you run through 6-8 bottles that you have with you and let them decide which bottle to open. If you bring 3 bombers you're less likely to be able to do that and hook people up.

Not sure how my comments about bringing a lot of beer to share got construed into me being stingy with my beer...

Anyway just ordered a keg of CW BB Stout to bring with, can take 7-10 days to get in from the distributor so fingers crossed that it will be in on time. If anyone wants a pour I'll be in the north gate line by 6am.

That's cool. I don't think anyone construed your post as being stingy...more like you were thinking others were being stingy. The best part of drinking beer is sharing with people. I don't know how close I'll be parked, so running to the car may not be a realistic option. Our group is spread across groups B, D & E so we're in for the long haul. We won't be getting there at 0'Dark thirty. We're staying at a friend's house, so we're not doing the hotel shares friday night.

I also don't have a deep cellar. I've been drinking craft beer since the late 80's, but only got into stocking a cellar about a year ago. I'm going to be bringing mostly local stuff that I know is good and people will enjoy experiencing, even if it wasn't on their ISO list. I have zero expectations about what will be shared with me. It's more about bonding with fellow craft beer people over good beer and shared interest in beer. Any guest taps, shares, etc. will be pure gravy for me.

    I hope everyone has fun.

What time do people typically leave the festival? I'm taking the shuttle in from Chicago and can't decide which bus to take back. I am in Group B and plan on taking the 9am shuttle to DLD.

Anytime between 2pm and 10pm... depends on how drunk and tired you get. Some people go all day, some people leave early afternoon, some people leave around 4-5pm.

Doing Group A before you are feeling pretty beat by 4-6pm usually. Unless you take a 2 hour break from drinking at some point to recover. If you stay until 5pm-ish you will have had a great full day.

Cannot stress this enough. Recharge, drink non-alcoholic fluids, etc. for a period of time and stick around to later in the day. It is a lot of fun.

Your body will know when it's time to leave. I plan on taking a break to drop off DL bottles, eat, hydrate and be off my feet for a bit. Then return and try to shut it down - I haven't made it much past sunset in prior years.

Also in Group B and taking the 9pm shuttle. I just picked 3pm because that's after the Group B bottle pickup ends and if we start sharing on the bus (find me and I'll crack open some freshly chilled IPAs) that'll be a solid six hours of drinking.
