Dark Lord Day 2016

I'd like to try some but I'm not standing in line for it.

Yeah, I'd like a bottle or two, but I also will not be wasting time in a line of more than 10 people to grab a bottle. I'd like to minimize the time spent in lines outside of those that are getting me drunker (or drunk in the future, in the case of the DL bottle line).

It's tough to not bring a lot of what other Midwesterners are bringing, but I think I'm going to bring:

In addition to beer, I'm making my signature soft pretzels (my own recipe) for pretzel necklaces for my group. I'm making a couple smaller, 'spare' necklaces to give away for 'good deeds'. Look for 4 people with half a dozen soft pretzels around each neck. If I have any left after a couple hours, the bar for a good deed will probably be pretty low...

Made the dough last night. Have to boil and bake tonight as we're leaving tomorrow.

 

Created an account to get involved in the Dark Lord Day discussion. Was at the brewpub this past Monday and the bartender told me that from what he saw of the festival map-in-progress was that it is basically the same layout as last year.

Hmmm... salted pretzel necklace and pouring rain.

 

Last year these people in line in front of my friend and I shared some pretzel necklaces they had made but had them covered with an upside down ziplock bag. So they stayed mostly dry even when you went to get a pretzel because the opening was pointed downward. I thought that was a pretty good idea.

 

I bring Cliff bars. Seems infinitely easier and more filling than pretzels around your neck.

 

I go back to third grade - Uncrustables all the way!

 

Yuck! Not that I knew the layout last year due to lack of receiving or ever knowing a map existed and the fact that everything was mud and didnt venture vary far anywhere.

Speaking of rain what are some of the best rain suits people might recommend?

 

I'm going full on yellow gordons fisherman suit with hat.....

 

It's my fifth year going, and some of my friends sixth year. It's been a tradition since I've been going. A little rain can't stop that.
