As I was approaching the port-o-potty island I had a guy offer to hold my beer, saying "Hey, I can hold that for you. I won't do anything weird to it."
I would have preferred the BCBS guy.

I'm always gonna bring a shit ton of bottles, but I really was looking forward to the taps this year. The problem was just the fucking rain. I had no desire to go outside and check the taps because of the weather.

If it was nice out, I would have no issue killing an hour in line and sharing done beers while checking out the drafts.

The rain just really killed the draft beers this year.

Yeah, I'm still pretty bitter about how fucked on lines Group A was on the north side of the park, but even I have to admit that had this been a sunny day, I'd have come out much happier. I really hope the weather is at least better next year. Hell, I had a better time last year, and people have been saying that last year was hell on earth.

It's a right of passage to stand in the cold rain to get Dark Lord. It is customary to suffer before you can get your bottles.... I hope for no rain next year though.

Weather wise, until 2016 DLD happened all I heard was 2015 DLD was worst in recent memory. Having been to both, I'd take the 2015 version over the 2016 weather conditions.... definitely!

Yeah, '16 was way worse, at least for the time I was there. I was at '15 from like 4pm-on (till 9), and it was easy, just real muddy. I had a great time and got filthy shoes. This year I was soaked and freezing, and my shoes were fine.

    Fuck my shoes!

Eh, well it was a place to get out of the rain at least! The rain did seem more brutal than last year. . .

It was much lighter last year, at least later in the day. I wore a hoodie that year and was fine. I wore a rain poncho this year and still got pretty wet.

Okay, my wallet just met hell. Cascade just entered Ohio. $30 will get me one bottle of that instead.

Maybe it's because it was my first time this year and I was riding the high of the first time experience, but the weather didn't really bother me at all. I mean, yes I ended up pretty wet, but I don't recall ever thinking I was in awful shape.

Call me crazy, but I'd almost prefer no sun...carrying around a backpack of bombers would make me sweaty (and many others I assume), and that would not be pretty. I'd definitely prefer not to have the rain, but wouldn't want it too warm/sunny.

I think had I not spent 3 hours in line, in the rain (from like 10:15 to a little after 1, when we finally got inside the warehouse), it wouldn't have bothered me nearly as much. But 3 hours in a line that was barely moving was just too much at one time. The rest was fine, but I was already over it at that point.

In terms of weather, I drop all my stuff off in my car (gf drives, as she doesn't guzzle beer like I do), so I'm fine with sun or whatever, since it doesn't affect me in that manner. But you're right, in that sense it would be a burden for those lugging shit around all day.

Never too late to share my experience party, but you can definitely show up late to the actual DLD party....

To start off I was in group A, and like many others, lined up in the north line. When we first arrived we were quite shocked to see how long the line was, but it was only 9:45/10. We held our spot in line and I volunteered to walk up to the front of the line to check and see if we were in the right line or if there was a space for people to move up if they were in A. As I was walking to the front I saw many people in the same line with the A group badge so I knew I was probably going to be told there is no special line for As. I walk back to my group and tell them the news. We all sighed and tried to stay positive even with the never ending/moving line. We met some nice people in line and shared our stories and beers with each other. The line moved slow and spirits were running low until we got closer to the human corral. We were feverishly looking at our watches and saw that we were getting very close to the 12:30 cutoff time for A and beginning time for B.

In the line to get in we saw so many people pissing against the chain link fence it was amazing. Every time we circled around it seemed like more and more people were against the wall. Finally we get to the bag check at 12:35, damn we missed our slot and we can see B badges moving into position. I feel bad for the bag checkers that weren't under the tent. They were doing a hell of a job (a little too much inspecting) and slowed us down. We almost ran past our vouchers because we were in such a hurry to move, but picked them up.

We ran over to the bottle pickup line which looked like it was snaking all the way back to the beer share tents and went straight to the front of the line. I'm sure we pissed a couple people off but we were not going to get any farther back in line. There was one girl checking badges and she just waved us in. While we were in line some schmucks who also had A badges were asking all the B badge holders to move over so they could move up. HELLO?? Many people missed their slot idiots, just wait your turn now. We finally managed to get in and got lucky with some FVMs and BADLs for the group. Score!

We tried to pack our bottles straight into our backpacks inside the brewery, but got yelled at every time so we moved promptly over to the only dry spot we could find.... the bottle share north tent. It was so packed in there and so many people were fighting over spots we thought we might as well just stand in the rain. Lucky for us as we were packing our bottles into our backpacks in the middle of the tent, some guys offered us pours and we reciprocated the love and stayed there for many hours.

We ended up staying all night until about 9pm in the tent and only ventured out for food (lines and food sucked) and to go to guest taps. The only decent stuff we could find on tap after 7pm was dark lord. Its amazing how at literally any other event I would have been ecstatic to get a pour of darklord, but after heavy drinking all day it wasn't in my cards. Some douche tried to take out some darklord from our bags in front of us. We quickly stopped him and he just walked away. We ended up with about 10 extra tickets from all the nice people leaving the event and giving them away.

All in all a great event and I can't wait to go back next year. Cheers

I'm with you. Weather didn't bother me at all. 65 and overcast would be perfect for this event.

My feet got soaked though but that's my fault. Ponchos were the savior

I keep forgetting about those of you that had #northgateproblems. They really have to fix that for next year.
