So since last year was a total rainout this didn't really come up but has anyone ever gotten a group together for a Dark Lord Day cigar herf? What are the Indiana state laws for smoking at an event?

I can think of nothing more awkward than sharing a hotel room with a couple of hammered people that I've only met on a beer forum, but maybe I'm just too old school.

If it is there, it is there. Only FFF has knowledge on what they are brewing and how much. Last year is not an indication on what will happen this year as everyone gets something.

Not sure on state laws, but I think as long as you aren't bothering others you'll be fine. We've smoked at Dark Lord Day the past few years without a problem (groups of about 10-15 people). We ended up smoking in line one of the years and everyone seemed cool about it. If you can park in one of the lots in the industrial park you can probably setup tables/chairs and smoke there more comfortably though.

as a none smoker I think everyone should have the right to smoke and not be taxed for it, but if I'm standing in line next to you and you're smoking, i'm not thrilled about it. I would never say anything, but think about it.

Came across this & have not seen any mention of it here yet. Some relevance to DLD as it seems the artist and writer (along with Nick) will be signing autographs there. Might not be everyone's cup of tea but perhaps some people here might be interested in it anyway.

Will there be interest in TG beers for sharing? I know not everyone can get Toppling goliath, but I don't really have any whales at this point, but XHops Gold and Pompeii are really solid beers, for example. If there's another King Sue release I'll probably drive to Decorah for some, but I doubt another one will come before DLD...

OK cool. Maybe I'll be able to find some like minded fellows who enjoy a big stout with a big cigar.

Fair position. I'd never spark up in line though. I'm thinking more later in the day in a small group away from others while looking for a break from the beer.

Someone shared a PseudoSue with me while we were in the glass whalez line last year and it was greatly appreciated. It's the only TG I've ever had.

When it comes to shares it seems like people are happy to try stuff they can't readily get in their area, not just the super white whalez.

Before going to my first DLD I thought- oh no ones going to want to try my beers since I didn't bring any whales. It wasn't about whales at all, it was about sharing beers that might not be readily available to you and having a good time.

Unless you set up a share before you get there I would leave the whalez at home. Most people share solid locals, bcbs, kbs, shit like that.

As per TG stuff - TG is usually there pouring beer, so kind of redundant to have bottles of what you can walk over and get on tap but I'm sure people won't complain, either.
