Yeah honestly the price is fine given I always spend at least $250 on DLD.

Let's start the yearly rumors though:

1. State Police will ban bottle shares this year
2. There won't be GA tickets
3. There will be GA tickets, but they will be $100
4. Slayer is playing

Also, speculation time. Since the bottles are already paid for, they could in theory hand out the bottles somewhere other than inside the brewery (although I have no reason to suspect they will).

 

Unless they just make one variant this year.

 

It seems pretty cool that the variant is guaranteed, and I'm still looking forward to hopefully getting tickets.

Per FAQ: variants on first come, first serve basis. You may not get your #1 choice, but there will be a variant for everyone.

 

Big fan of changes, wouldn't mind seeing a scratch off for which variant you get but every gets a variant is awesome!

Nope. Not for 2016. Everyone gets Dark Lord this year

 

Why make people buy four bottles of regular per ticket? Don't make me buy stuff that I don't want.

 

Love the new setup and also LOL calling a variant "Rare" when everyone gets a bottle.

 

Setup for this year seems fantastic, IMO. the variant lottery was kinda fun, I thought. But from Floyds perspective, they were trusting volunteers to handle cash transactions for their most sought after beers. It's far more smoother for them to take the cash exchange out of the equation. And more variants to go around. Win-win.....I don't think many go to DLD on a budget...

There will still be groupings but I am willing to bet the days of 2 hrs waiting for dark lord in line are long gone. Walk up grab your bottles, select variant head out.

Also, the website doesn't mention "barrel-aged" or anything similar, so clearly the variants are just regular DL with goofy adjuncts added.

So my knee jerk reaction was to say f this but honestly if you break it down on what you would spend if you won a varient last year you are really coming out ahead pending you spent at least 40 on the guest booze and food.

2014
- 40$ Ticket
- 80$ for Reg
- 50$ varient
- 40$ food

would be a total of $210. Which makes this year $10 cheaper pending winning a varient and spending some cash on food and drinks.

 

Interesting and probably a whole lot easier to manage, but put me in the camp of "I'd rather buy a $50 cheaper ticket and not get a variant" category. At least it makes it harder for jackholes to cheat the system.

And I'd probably rather have a poster/shirt combo over food, but that's just nitpicking.

Oh well, I guess you can't please everyone
