Dark Lord Day 2016

I would be really surprised if that was the case. I'm personally hoping for a smaller event. Since they added GA, it's been a bit more muddled.

 

I really don't think GA is actually the problem. Its been 20% of the crowd. 2014 seemed a lot more crowded than 2013 which caused massive bitching about the GA crowd, but I would argue the real problem in 2014 was the fact that the bottle line moved a lot quicker. 2013 it took a minimum of 2-3 hours to get your bottles. 2014 most people got through in under 30 min. When you have 3,000 people stuck in the bottle line at any given time, that's fewer people to over crowd the rest of the festival. And last year with the weather, there is no way the GA crowd outnumbered the no shows. I saw the stack of unused scratch-offs last year, it was well over 2000.

 

It will be interesting to see what gets sold right before this year. They had a lot of 2014 for sale last year before the party started. I wonder if they have any BA versions to sell?

 

They did sell some left over 2013 Muscatel Barrel Aged Dark Lord prior to Dark Lord Day 2014, so it is a possibility.

Would be nice if vintage bottles are part of the DLD selection process this year.

 

Doubtful, defeats whole purpose of paying for beer upfront.

 

Bottling and selling this travesty and someone subsequently drinking it is/was SO F#&*ING METAL.

 

It's not FFF has confirmed this on more than one occasion already this year

 

So did FFF sell 2014 at the brewery friday before DLD? Just curious as to how that worked.

 

I think it was Thursday (and then they also sold DL '14 after DLD, on Monday, I believe). They were sold at kiosk and it was 1 per customer/day. They also let it be known on their website under 'beer to go' section that it was available for sale.

 

I can tell you 100% that they athink least sold Dark Lord last year on the Sunday and Monday following DLD because I drove up that Monday and got some.

Yes, there was a long line last year at open the day before DLD. They sold Port. Brandy DL and regular DL. I bought a Brandy, pretty sure they were $60 each.

Good news, Bottle sharing is legal at DLD officially. Potential bad news, there is now a legal limit to how much you can bring in. In the past I have brought 3 full backpacks of bombers (probably too much but regardless) I wonder if they will actually enforce the oz limit.

 

Interesting tweet and facebook post, but should put to rest the bottle share rumors once and for all.

288 Ounces seems like a reasonable amount.

 

Reading that just gave me a slipped disk.

Last year I had one full (very large) backpack, and since I was standing in lines a lot, (and it was keeping the rain off my back), it was on my back pretty much the whole time. Needless to say I was sore as hell, esp. my neck and shoulders, for a week straight.

 

And while no surprise certainly we know there will be at least 7,500 people in attendance as per the same Bill

 

so a go? or no go? I asked this before, but the new rules saying backpack makes me wonder.
