A couple years ago my friends and I parked at one of the local businesses for maybe $30. I drove and we had arranged for someone to get dropped off and drive my car home. I somehow lost my car key in the fest. Had my buddy drive me back out there the next day to look for it. Amazingly I found it in the muddy mess near the band stage. My car was still there and I was able to drive it back home.

If WASP played the "The Crimson Idol" in its entirety I'd be down for this.

Darkness Day always has plenty of people sleeping in their vehicles and no one gives them a hard time. I think the cops know that these events bring in thousands of dollars to local businesses and generally don't give the beer folks too hard of a time. If you're not smashing bottles/glasses, actively throwing up, or engaging in fisticuffs the coppers will generally leave you alone.

Even if you are actively throwing up the cops generally will leave you to it unless you look like you're gonna pass out on the grass and stay there.

It varies depending on the cops. I've heard plenty of stories about people getting a DUI at 4 Elf despite their best efforts (leaving the keys on the top of the car, on the tire, etc.).

I think paying for a hotel locally is supporting a local business...sleeping in your car, not so much.

Didn't mean to argue about it - just stating my experience. I've got a hotel room.

If the alternative is some blackout drunk guy trying to drive home, I am 100% in support of car sleeping.

I agree...just found the way I was reading your post on screen to be a bit funny. Drunk driving should not be an option for anyone.

Let's please end this bullshit sleeping in the car discussion. If you do not have a way to get to and from DLD (other than you driving in, drinking for hours, driving out), then please do not even bother coming. Everyone else thanks you.

You say "they'll" like its a guarantee. Fewer than 1% of cops register that high on the dickhead scale to give a DUI to someone sleeping. Possible - yes, likely - not even close. And if the cop was that hard up he could also get anyone there for public intoxication or do something about any of the illegal outside the festival grounds open container bottle sharing. Plus, there will also be plenty of drunks actually driving that they wont need to go fishing in parked cars for sleeping drunks.

This made me laugh out loud.

But seriously, no Warrant with their new lead singer? Methinks this would be a great way to reveal Cherry Pie Dark Lord.

You can leave your car overnight in the park if you pay. I dunno about sleeping in it but your allowed to leave it over night. Have to get it by a reasonable time the next day is all the cop and parking lady told my group last year

I wonder if the police will come in the festival, and give everyone DUI's because at any point we could have all driven? Even if your car is in New York. NEVER Know!!!
