I guess if they are doing ~10 variants, each particular variant is relatively rare. At least rarer than a beer I can think of that uses that particular moniker!

As I ask every year, do we have any rumors yet on the lineup?

Also for the folks who have never been, bring hip waders if it's raining.

This could be a dumb question, but in the past, do you get to pick which letter group you are in when purchasing tickets, or is it randomly assigned? Or maybe first people to buy tickets get the earliest groups?

Thanks for all the info and insight otherwise, folks.

You pick, it's all part of the madness when the tickets go live. Do you try and shoot for a group A which sells out first? Or do you resign yourself to a later time with a higher chance of getting a ticket.

Exactly. It's like a feeding frenzy if you dropped some raw meat into the amazon with a bunch of piranha around.

Tried for group C last year and got tickets no problem. Won the lottery for a variant, and vanilla was already gone. Might try for B this year

$200 this year for what cost $210 last year. And people are bitching? LOL

Proof that no matter what FFF does, some people are going to irrationally hate it.

Good, hope they all stay home. Probably the same GA people who used to show up with an empty glass and no beer to share, while hoping to score a BADL to sell for $300. Fuck them.

I guess my issue with the price is just the price FFF charges for their beer in general. I have had many of their beers and granted I like them (Apocalypse Cow is one of my top DIPAs), the price they charge is just dumb. I will buy a six pack of alpha king or zombie dust for 12.99 here and be happy, but their bombers costing 14.99 is expensive. How is it that the variant is $50 dollars! That to me goes off the scale.

Had this conversation with my buddy about Dark Lord day vs Hunaphu Day. Atleast Huna day gives you access to all those taps for free with the price of the ticket. Dark Lord, you have to pay for those taps. Just crazy to me. Happy for those that are going and feel the cost justifies it. With the cost of a hotel, gas to get there, and the ticket, I rather just go on a cruise and get tan haha. To each their own though!

Well, you DO get $40 towards food/beer, so it's not like your $200 gets you nothing in the way of taps. Besides, it's the biggest bottle share of the year; you don't exactly want for options.

    But, to each their own!

Beware the jacks bus. I took that route two years ago. I opted for the last time slot to go back to the city as I had an E group ticket. That year it got pretty cold and windy when the sun went down. After my crew got our bottles, the festival grounds were like a ghost town but I still had 30 minutes before my shuttle was scheduled to depart so I grabbed another guest tap or two and then headed to the rendez vous point ten minutes early. No shuttle. I waited thinking maybe it was going to come at the exact time. Nothing. I called jacks and they informed me that the bus left 30 minutes early because "everyone was cold and ready to go". I was stranded in muncy and was told to find a cab back to Chicago and they would reimburse me. Luckily I have the best sister in law on earth and she drove me two hours out of her way since there were no cabs in sight.

Last year my friend and I split a car service there and back. It was less then $90 round trip (with a couple more people, you can easily get that under $60) and I had a warm, dry, comfortable seat for the ride there and back. Totally worth the extra expense, in my opinion. I will never take a group shuttle again.

To be fair their beer isn't that expensive at the brewery. Blame your bottle shops for the prices you're paying. All 6 packs are $10. And mostly all of the bombers are $8-$10 with the exceptions of the more limited releases (BA Behemoth etc) no tax. Though bombers in general are ridiculous but that's a different discussion.

Exactly. Go to the brewery and cases are $40/$10 for a sixer like you said. Very reasonable. The shops around have a high markup on FFF because everyone buys it.

When FFF put Zombie Dust in bombers a few months ago, they were charging $3.25/bomber at the brewery. That was pretty damn cheap.

I guess my issue is more about the bombers. I am fine paying 12 bucks for a six pack but the bomber issue just sucks. I know getting the beer at the brewery is probably the best route, but living in Kentucky, I only have so many options. Even space ship is 10.99 here.

Granted all bombers are overpriced imo but more so with FFF.

I agree. Bombers in general are a ripoff, most IPA and DIPA bombers should be in the $6-$7 rannge IMO. However, if people keep paying $10/ea (myself included) then they have no incentive to drop the price I guess.

Nice to see Pipeworks canning some of there bombers and charging the same price as when they were in bomber form.

I've easily spent over $200 each of the last four years I have attended.

Floyds bombers are hardly priced differently than anyone else's.

Stone and Lagunitas have the best prices but 10.99 is not an expensive bomber

$11 for 22 oz. of beer is.... in "the middle" as far as pricing; .50 per ounce isn't terrible.
But of late, that's not the norm for FFF bombers in local shops. I saw Behemoth last week for $18/bomber. That is getting pricey. Since it's a wax cap, you get people thinking it's that much better of a beer or a "collectible".
Pear Bear is also in the $18-$20 range -- again, not worth it at all and it's only 7.5% ABV, plus FFF isn't a Russian River (for example) and hasn't perfected the wild ales. Blot Out the Sun is another one for $18ish. I'd rather have a Dragon's Milk bomber for ~$7.99.

They get away with it because (a) people buy them and (b) they make a lot of their beers available in bomber format only so you "have" to buy a bomber or you can't try it.

So I realized last night that DLD and GTMW ticket weekend are....the same weekend this year.

Guess I'll be leaving FFF after I get my allotment and heading up to Madison.

    Ughhhhhhh

True on Behemoth. I guess living in kentucky I see some bombers from Rhinegeist at 7.99 or Lauganitis at 6.99 and go wow, FFF is crazy to price it as that. I know in general people buy them and I did too. During Christmas, I saw Alpha Kong in bombers at a liquor barn for 20.99. I did not want it at all but just funny how one bomber can be more than 2 six packs of a good beer! But now that I have tried their beers, i know what I like more and will only buy certain bombers of theres.
