Dark Lord Day (2019)

Ch3mtrail had a serious red hot cinnamon thing going on this year. Definitely had a burn all the way down. Not sure if the peppercorns caused that, but it was borderline unpleasant. 18 is the best chemtrail vintage for sure IMO. And I don't know what the hell they were pouring at 5pm by the main stage they were calling Handjee, bc all 4 of us thought it was FVM or something else.

 

this was my 4th DLD and it was another great experience. got there just before 11am and left before the rain came (i'd say around 3pm). met a lot of nice and generous people. i was sharing bottles from JWB, so if you got a pour of Desperado, Han Shot First, Big Poppa or Orange Dreamsicle, it may have been from my wife and I. people poured me cantillon, jester king, bottle logic, russian river, more, side project, among other stuff. was able to get pours of Chemtrail, Handjee and FVM. and walked away with these bad boys.

Respectively disagree. I thought last years CMT totally lacked any barrel character. In fact all the 2018 variants I tried (like 8) were lacking barrel. I thought this years was very balanced.

 

We got GTM and turtledogg last year, should we just mix them together and chug?

I remember where I was when I had Temeculan 3000 (Mornin’ Delight Day) like it was a national tragedy. But it was memorable which made it a worthy bottle share beer haha

 

I actually did a cuvée of multiple variants after a variant share. Naturally there was the most left over of GTM and Turtledogg so the cuvée was mostly those. Turtledogg is so strong it over powered everything else.

 

If anyone is looking to ride the dragon Dark Matter's downtown location has bottles of Black Hole Necromancer left over.

 

I'll toss my hat in the ring and also say that this year's CTM was way overdone with the cinnamon spice. Previous years were like a cinnamon roll, this year was like Big Red gum.

I've reported it but they better bring it back, I had a totally different experience and review for last year's CTM than the year before. And this year as well but still at least the bourbon and rye need different entries.

 

Speaking of cinnamon candy, as much as CTM 19 was starting to get into that territory it's got nothing on El Duende from Bottle Logic that they had on tap. That beer was not good and everyone I convinced to try it agreed. I'm highly confused by the high rating that beer has. It should be noted that I love candy cinnamon (just not in beer) and my wife loves, loves, loves cinnamon beers like Abraxas so it's not like it's an adjunct we don't enjoy.

 

Lol. For each person saying it is too spicy there is another saying it is perfect...

Edit: Look at untapped- there is one bottle of Chemtrail 2019 with the same bottle number popping up in like 6 reviews so it is obvious part of a share and half the people say amazing and half say too spicy. So which is it?

 

Probably pretty safe to say there's an increase in cinnamon spice that is enjoyable to some and way too much for others.
