Dark Lord Day (2019)

^ this. Scheduled tappings allowed me to get way more variants than I've ever gotten, and only the lines at the beginning of the day were brutal. In years past, there has been huge throngs of people that clogged things up waiting anyway, then a huge crush of people when something cool went up, which was total chaos. If you don't want to wait in lines, just enjoy the share tent for a while and things will start to settle down.

 

Had ‘12 and ‘14 last year and they were utter trash. No idea what went wrong those two years. They were aged next to a ‘13 which aged fucking beautifully, so it wasn’t the cellaring. Just bad beer.

I wonder how ‘09 and ‘10 are holding up. Those were good back in the day.

 

Damn they just givin that shit away now?

 

There are zero lines late in the day any year. That's how it's always been. I'm looking at it more as far as just maneuvering around the grounds. If I'm just looking to move around, people clustered by tap booths aren't a hindrance as compared to a pre-line for a 2pm tap timing which snakes all over the place. One can easily avoid the former while the latter was difficult last year in my experience.

 

I had a '14 at DLD last summer and it was one of the best beers all day. I think some bottles age differently.

 

That's all? Easier than yer pink rubber boots getting stuck in 3 foot deep suction mud!

I'll take walking through people standing in line. I don't remember a year where I wasn't doing that multiple times one way or another.

 

Had a '10 last week and thought it was great. Did not taste like a 9 year old beer to me.

 

I had a '10 in '16 and it was awesome.

 

Anyone still looking for a DLD ticket?

 

I'm actually from Chicago, but point accepted. I guess I'll have to drink the Luling, Bale, Castle Hill and Ghost Diamonds with others.

Mind the false line.

When entering the gates early, last year a ton of people were just standing in line drinking because they had too much beer. You can walk around all of these people and go through the entry gate.
