As someone with no skin in the game, I'll admit that's pretty wack. Tacking on a 2nd/3rd night is basically an F.U. to people who are local enough that they don't need to plan an entire weekend around Hammond. Obviously they can do what they want, and I absolutely understand not wanting hordes of beer nerds hanging out around the hotel completely wrecked the night before/day of and day after, but it still sucks for those of you who would've at least stayed a night.

The hotels are reserved for the hard core DLD fans. If you aren't going to pass out after the fest and wake up two days later, you are a lightweight.

What part of "no one is staying Sunday night" do you not understand?

Don't worry @Jinx989 . We got a suite in our back pocket for much cheaper anyways. We'll just bring our sous vide machine to someone else's bathroom.

I guess that’s the price you pay for proximity. I stay in Hammond, and it’s only 5 more minutes down the road. Booked my room for Saturday night, just the one night. Zero issues.

Exactly. I am probably in the minority but that is capitalism; and I love it. There are plenty of other options if you do not want to pay the price they are asking and time will tell if they made a good decision. The Ryder Cup is coming to Kohler, WI this year and you probably do not want to know what it costs to stay in a Kohler hotel during that week.

I can understand citing it as capitalism (which leaves me room to happily flip them the bird and continue patronizing hotels just outside of Munster limits). But I can't understand this comment.

Shriner owns the hotel, obviously

This thread is seriously lacking this year. Zero rumors of Vanilla being infected??? Come on guys, we are better than this!

I heard that Spring Hill Suites gouges on price in order to appease the Dark Lord himself. The Dark Lord demands half of all hotel profits from his day.

Anything less and he'll burn down the hotel.

my buddy told me they had to dump all of the handjee barrels because they were infected. probably why they were so late to announce this year - had to decide if it's even worth throwing the festival at that point

They should host a large bonfire for the annual dumping of Handjees.

    Dear DarkLord,

My “friends” think we should skip your namesake day this year. They want to do something different. They say they are too old to stand in parking lots with neckbeards and drink beer. Other options floated include “fishing trips” or “east coast beer sojourn.”

I was going to ask for advice on how to convince them to come, but you’ve shown me the darkness. How do I make new, better friends, and ensure the demise of these weak, fake friends?

    Sincerely,
    Putting the End in Friendship

I heard they were able to save the batch by adding tons of pink Himalayan sea salt.

Also, leading contender for DL Variant of the Year 2020 is Gwenyth Paltrow's Candle Dark Lord....

Combine this thread with the BCS thread, distill it into a capsule and make the most powerful sleeping pill of all time.

Dark Lord Day is no longer cool. The beer tastes like soy sauce

Metal Music is great except when the guy is screaming. I wish a loud band without screaming played instead. I like those better.

In other words, you have a verse by verse love-hate relationship with Killswitch Engage.
