Was there and is confirmed. Went from Turtledogg to a Cavalriro of Varnov to Rye BADL, and that turned into Chemtrailmix on trade boards.

It was some secret ninja trading skills you had to see to believe.

And yet we still managed to end up drinking a Turtledogg somehow!!!

Logged back in just for this thread, and it did not disappoint. Booked my hotel, it’s refundable in case the date is off. The rumors of the fest being cancelled have popped up early on FB this year. See you all in the pit!

What date? That date listed when you Google search isn't from 3F, as far as I know. 3F has not released a date, yet, so the cancelled rumors could have some truth to them. The date is usually released in October, with tickets going on sale in March.

Yup May 16, every year someone says they heard that it’s cancelled, and every year it’s still on. I’m not worried.

Yeah, but every other year 3F released an actual date... in October...

It's a week into January and 3F has not even mentioned DLD.

While I get that every year there are crazy rumors about the fest being off due to variants being infected, brewery burning down, etc., those have always been silly because 3F follows pretty much the same schedule in terms of announcing the date, when tickets are on sale, etc.

This year, it's different. That certainly doesn't mean DLD is off for the year, but it certainly has some interesting things happening (or not happening).

The early announcement may be true recently, but historically that is false. I think it's highly unlikely the fest would be cancelled this year. For example, even if something causes 3 Floyd's to not be able to have the fest on brewery grounds like usual (construction, city of Munster) you really think they won't plan on moving it to different venue? That day is worth a couple million dollars to them, and it's something keeping them relevant as a craft brewery with all this increasing competition from small players in the market. They'll find a way.

I'm not saying it's off. It's just odd that they haven't even mentioned it yet, and tickets usually go on sale in March.

I agree with this 100%. (I haven't done the research on how long they've been announcing the date by this time, but I'm pretty sure it's been at least 5 years or so...I was just running with what someone else had already said - which I suppose is bad interneting on my part)

Moving Dark Lord Day to another venue would rip the soul (bottle sharing) out of Dark Lord Day. It is strange that it hasn't been announced yet. But until someone says it isn't happening you have to believe it could.

It’s not like they would move it, it’s literally just in a parking lot! They don’t need anything except a flat area. Aside from announcing the date, all the info was released in January last year. I would expect to hear some info soon.

If they move it though, then I think they would legally need to have all of the beer go through distribution instead of being able to sell it direct. Which would cut into their profits big time.

Theoretically I think they could have bottle sharing somewhere else, since a law was passed a few years back in Indiana that made bottle sharing legal at festivals. Although I am guessing it would be more difficult to get the permit/approval from the venue if it were somewhere else.

It's not just a parking lot. They go through some seriously heavy duty set up and tear down. Those tents withstood a fuckin tornado last year, for crying out loud.

It bears repeating, why hasn't FFF (and not 3 Fonteinen) said anything yet?

Yeah, I initially dismissed the rumors of cancellation pretty quickly when I first heard them, but the fact that there has been no announcement of any kind this year and we're already into January has me a little bit concerned.

Whoever is visiting 3Floyds just needs to ask one of the employees about Dark Lord Day and see what they get. I usually got a ton of info about Dark Lord Day during those brewery tours by asking the tour guide/brewer.

The Facebook rumor is that the town of Munster is not approving the event permit this year. But no idea where this rumor started.

The other factor to consider is construction of that huge expansion they are planning, they haven't really done any of that yet but if the whole area is a construction zone it would be reasonable to think they might not be able to hold the event there.

But they haven't started construction yet (I think), so it would seem like that wouldn't hold them back just by itself. Seems like they would just wait to start construction until right after DLD.
