No one is up in arms about it, nor does anyone want in cancelled. Based on current events and the global/national pattern over the past two weeks, I think the reasonable expectation is that we should have a back up plan for DLD because it probably isn't going down.

Thank goodness DLD is an underground fest that only NWI locals attend.

 

The other consideration is where we'll be in May (DLD is in May, right?). Having a fest right now might be doable, but I doubt the # of cases will have gone down by then.

 

The only reason they'll be up is because more people will be tested for the cold they have than were before. Again, the numbers we have are artificially repressed by our inadequate leadership not providing appropriate tools to test and universal direction on who, how often, and where to test.

Trust, that shit is EVERYWHERE, already. If ya'll want to cancel a year of your life to try to avoid it by hiding in your home, well, that's your choice.

 

If I find out I have corona virus and am going to be quarantined at home for 2 weeks with nothing to do, the first thing I'm doing is stocking up at my local brewery.

ok, ok, I’ll bite - THIS is FAKE NEWS. It’s fine to say people are being hysterical or overly-cautious, but nowhere have I seen evidence that this virus is widespread already. It is transferring very, very quickly and easily, but it appears to be very much clustered right now. That is important. The system-level concern is that it WILL spread everywhere TOO fast. Haven’t you seen all the “flatten the curve” stuff? The goal right now is to slowwwwwww it down. Testing, reporting, minimizing exposure, common-sense precautions.

saying “naw, dawg, iz already heeeeere” could cause people to ignore following some of those common-sense precautions, or to not stay informed of new clusters, or not supporting initiatives to slow it down.
