Take it a step further ... will there be price differentiation? Turtledogg or Reptile Fund for $25, Handjee for $100? The “bad” variants may only have those who are interested to find out how bad it is. And why shouldn’t fff charge secondary market value for Handjee?

$50 for a random variant. “You get what you get”

I'm more curious about 2020 Dark Lord production being delayed, and whether that means they are going to still try to have a fest this year too, and if so, what that all means for 2021. Who's got a Hot Tub Time Machine?

I remember reading somewhere that dark lord day pays their bills for the year. I don’t see how I can not sell the beer, even if it means no fest.

I'd wager a Handjee that 3 Floyds breaks even on Dark Lord Day at best.

What's the secondary market like for a @Jplachy Handjee?

I'm sure this has been seen in the other 3F thread but from Josh Noel on Twitter:

If they're not even going to open the brewpub for possibly a year+ out of safety concerns then Dark Lord Day is for sure not happening this year.

i've heard from reliable sources that they are going to have a super secret ultra metal dark lord day in the sewers under munster on the 4th of July.

It could be different these days, but I know in the past like 2008-2012 the have said that they would wait for DLD income to upgrade the brewhouse, buy a new tank etc... so it certainly was a huge influx of cash at one point.

I can't imagine how much they pay just the company that runs the fest for them now.

Some of those “workers” are volunteers, who volunteer for fff’s contribution to the humane society.

True, but they do get a lot of volunteer labor too right? Ticket sales alone are almost $3 million, then you have draft/merch/food sales going for 12 hours. I bet they still make a healthy profit from it.

I'm talking about the logistics company that spends months putting the fest together.

Quick math on revenue. If there are 8,000+ attendees all paying $180 for a ticket, that's roughly $1.5M of revenue just from ticket sales. Aren't the guest taps sent by the other breweries "free of charge" too? so, a lot of the sales go to the bottom line. I'll wager they probably pull in another $1.5M - $2.0M the day of. Not an event planner so i have no idea what sort of margins they would be looking at with all of the setup, security, bands.

No doubt a money maker for them, but I would agree the profit margin is not exorbitant. A couple million bucks sounds like a lot to an individual, but I don’t think that’s making any breweries rich with their capital and operating costs, and never-ending pursuit of growth/expansion. Interesting discussion. Maybe @Brewery-CFO can chime in. He’s made some interesting comments on brewery economics in other posts.

@Brewery-CFO , how profitable would Dark Lord Day be for FFF and what’s your take on them making the call to shutdown the pub for the next one year+?

Most of the sales are $10.00 5oz pours of dark lord variants. They are selling a metric fuckton of those
