I was very worried heading to pick up after reading about today’s hauls but I lucked out. My 2 allotments consisted of chem trail ‘18 and cavaleiro and chem trail ‘19 and fvm’19. I got there around 4 PM- there were 2 guys one checking ID and the other grabbing the bags. There were some bags on a table and he grabbed one of those for me but then went into the trailer for the other one. Maybe he knew all the table ones were the same package.

Real question on all of this is gratuity, did people do this at the time of order? Order other beers and leave a tip, tip at pickup, no tip at all?

I only ordered the dark lord allotments and did not tip at pick up. I put on a mask as I pulled up and rolled down the passenger window to communicate with guy checking IDs.

I did not tip today or order anything else. I just was wearing a mask, was ready with my order number and ID, and got what I got (Lounge and Rrari)

I haven’t heard a bad experience except mine. Mine just happened to be the literal worse experience anyone will have. I don’t think anyone will be able to beat me unless they get 3 turtledoggs. Tbh it’s the friendliest anyone at 3F has ever been to me, maybe because they knew.

The guy who is looking to acquire Turtledogg takes offense to this post.

What’s funny is they mentioned the whole “all of these are the same” thing and went in the trailer and grabbed two bags. They then carried those bags to the car behind me.i assumes they were 5 bottle bags instead of the 3 4 bottle bags I got so thought nothing of it at the time.

It seems like I might have just ran into having a couple people who either weren’t full time workers or simply had it out to ruin someone’s day. I’d have to imagine the next several cars all guy the exact same allotments as me considering I watched them literally pick up 10-12 bottles looking at them when putting mine together

    I went at 11:25 for three 5-packs.

    2x FVM 19
    2x Trump
    18 Lounge
    xBBA xDVR
    All three had 2x 17 and 1x 18 regular

And this was after they shrugged there shoulders and looked around for a few minutes to try and mix it up. Seems that table was all FVM/Trump. At least they tried.

After lunch. Went back around 1:30, since I’ve seen others here posting about duplicate swaps. Said, “hey, got three 5-packs all with the same vintages and two with duplicate variants.” He said no problem, I had to go to the truck to get some others out to mix it up.

They swapped one of my bags - same vintage regulars as the first three, Trump and GTM. Oh well. @Bburns87 I might have received one of your recycled bottles. Ha.

Guys were cool, they did what the could. As others have eluded too, seems randomization is more by time/day than on a tote by tote basis. I feel for the guys that hit the Turttledogg/ReptileFund day next week!

edit: wait it wasn’t mine! Lol I went at about 1:30 today. You tried to help me but they apparently had a lot more GTM. I wish I turned around right away and talked to the same people. I drove away, got on the highway and called my trade partner that had one of these bags. He convinced me I had nothing to lose going back so I turned around. I’m glad I did and I’m giving him the replacement they gave me, but i think if I immediately said this is crazy I might have gotten two bags swapped

Edited my typos. Return trip was at 1:30. Haha

And forgot to mention, but buddy that went right before me in the morning got Trump/FVM 19/ 2x 17/18.

so you were probably right behind or right in front of my first trip. I came back around 2. I honestly think you might have been the car right behind me because I saw them go in the truck to hunt down some bags and they were talking about how everything was the same. Literally an entire table (20+ bags) all GTM

Yeah, lots of GTM showing up on the FB groups today. Even a couple of double GTM bags. Honestly, if the bags aren't going to be truly random (which they clearly aren't), nobody should get a double bag of anything, good or bad.

I ordered some Behemoth and BA Behemoth for pickup and left a tip on that order. I didn't leave a tip on the DL order, because I didn't know how fast they would sell out, and I wasn't about to waste time putting something else in my cart. I'm not sure it mattered.

yeah. It’s honestly ridiculous. It’s not “random” if all the same beers are bunched into one window. It means my entire allotment was determined the second I bought it, rather than what happened to be left when I showed up. I can’t imagine how they packed all the same bottles into the same bags and same truck and didn’t think “wow, this isn’t gonna look good”

Refrigerate R’rari or leave in basement? What say the peanut gallery?

It's not even just bunching the same beers into the same window, they appear to be specifically creating the same bags over and over again based on what is in that window. This means they are paying attention to what is going into each bag.

In my experience, beers that have that many adjunct additives rarely improve with age. If you're going to keep it a while, I vote for refrigerator.

I totally agree. Honestly just more sad than angry. I was super excited for this and thinking about all the bottles I could get from years I missed... then this happens and it appears it was planned to do it that way. The worst part is knowing that they are probably laughing about it.
