Anyone know if there are any shares going on in Chicago? First year at DLD, so excited to get out there. Obviously know there will be shares at DLD too.

After taking a 5 year break, grabbed my tickets last night. Very stoked.

I went from 2012-2018, any substantial changes to the event outside of bottles and variants since 2018? Or same song and dance?

Less lines in the fest. DL variants readily available everywhere. The lining up way early to get in is unnecessary. Still pretty much anything goes once you're in.

Go read last year’s thread. Biggest change was they switched to 3 variants and 1 regular. They’ve added the golden ticket back in for a chance to win a 20th DLD Anniversary variant. They say they purposely had a smaller event last year (even though it seemed setup for way more people), but increased ticket this year for a bigger event. Last year was weird in that there was a lot of open space and easy to get DL and variants everywhere. Lines for bottle pickup were non existent. Food apparently was still a terrible wait as was wheel of death. It was a very tame fest last year. With bigger bands and more tickets, we’ll see which way the pendulum swings, but the changes of having more variants on in more places almost all the time should continue just with longer lines. They did well in 2018. Should be good.

The Open Bottle is a bottle shop/bar with locations in Tinley Park, IL and Lockport, IL. They are running a shuttle from their locations to 3 Floyds and back. It is legit, but only if your hotel is near one of their 2 locations. They are at least 30 minutes away from FFF so my guess is it won't do you any good. But you could check if your hotel is closer to them than FFF.

Yes, backpacks allowed. Many people bring cooler backpacks.

Bring some water & snacks, and some plastic cups for bottle sharing. You can also bring in up to 72oz of beer to share if you want.

Food lines tend to get longer later in the day, so if you are hungry and the line is short, go for it.

Will we find out what the XX DL variant is before the fest or will it be a day of announcement? Seems odd they wouldn’t have announced it by now, unless they are counting on the mystery to drive more ticket sales.

You can still get one if you aren’t deluxe and get a golden ticket

Group C sold out now, only Group D left. They might actually sell out.

It’s been years since I made the trip to DLD (what year was Dragon Abortion?) but I am coming back. I am bringing my oldest daughter… it will be her 21st birthday…. So I am expecting the biggest shitshow of a dld ever!

What the hell happened over the last half decade or so? Shouldn’t there be about 900 post a day on the dark lord thread from the same six guys creating a complete and total mess of beeradvocate? Oh well, I searched the back of the closet and found a very stained a kind of gross dragon abortion shirt. Now all I can do is wait.

The fest lost a lot of its luster when FFF switched Dark Lord to NA only

“Yes , that’s what the stain is from- everything but the Marshmallow part.”

Honestly, a good solid no drinking allowed rumor is the kind of thing I was looking for.

do you think High on Fire will be the same since they fired the singer and brought in Fergee?

I would guess it will be available at Dark Lord Day.

What do you get when you take an average whisky and combined it with the hype of Dark Lord and the premium pricing of FFF?
