this may be a silly question but im curious. in regards to barrel aged Dark Lords, are they made from the previous years batch? for instance, would BVDL from 2014 be a variant of 2013. im also curious about how long something like BVDL or Portuguese Brandy were in barrels. i ask because i enjoyed this years Dark Lord a little more than previous years and wondered if my Brandy DL was made from 2013 DL or the DL i drank from the 2014 bottles.
How would that work if they are all bottled/released the same time. I always took it as the variants are last years DL aged.
They should always be the previous release, for example 2014 BADL would be the 2013 base beer oaged and released in 2014. At least that's the way other breweries do it from my knowledge.
this is what i always thought but i heard someone mention otherwise so i thought id ask. i really wasnt sure how BVDL 14 could be made with 14 DL unless there were different batches or if 14 DL was bottled a while before being released.
We are talking about FFF so they probably do things differently than the rest of the industry. It's a general rule about using the previous year for this years BA release.
