Dark Malt Extract vs malt extract for priming

    Hello all.

    For priming beer is there a difference using dark malt extract vs malt extract besides color? I will be making a stout next week and will have some leftover dark malt extract and was thinking of using that.

    Yes. Dark extract will have less fermentable sugars than lighter extract. So you'd get less carbonation with the same amount of extract.

    Also, unless you have a specific reason to want to prime with extract, don't. Table sugar is cheap and more predictable.
