I just cracked open a Boulevard Dark Truth Stout that I have been amateurishly "aging" for a year in a duffel bag in my closet. Well, it appears to have soured. This is the first beer that I have cracked from my stash that I started 2 years ago. I am new to aging beers, but have loosely followed the suggestions made here on BA. I would say the median temp was 68 degrees, but last year here in Houston we did have record temperatures for weeks at a time, so the closet temp could have gotten up near 78 degrees. I'm a college kid, so I only have $120 worth of inventory which the majority are barely wines, belgians, and strong ales. I guess my question is, does dark truth not age well, or has my aging system been foiled and all of my product has spoiled?

I believe other people have mentioned this one going bad too. It may just be an issue with the beer.

I actually just read another thread (cant remember which) that said they had just opened a cellared dark truth and it was infected.

12oz or 750ml? I just opened a batch one 750ml a few weeks ago and it was still very good.

Do you also store old sweaty gym clothes in said duffel bag?

They were the 12ouncers. Ha! No gym clothes, just beer. I did find that a Lagunitas Undercover shutdown got infected aswell. That was a bummer as well.
