I have absolutely zero evidence, but I believe you should have a fast computer with a fast connection. Again, I am basing this on nothing but my own ability to get the tickets the last 2 years I've tried (group C in '15 and group A in '16). Now that I've said this, watch me completely strike out for '17.

I rent out a bitcoin mining operation for the day and have them focus their servers on getting me a ticket. $3.5 million seems expensive at first, but it's really not that much when you figure the tickets are selling for $240 a pop....

It's random, connection speed after a point doesn't matter. With tens of thousands of people hitting the site at once, some requests will be routed and responded to first, and others will get stuck in the queue.

    I have gotten tickets:

    1. On my phone on a 3G connection back in the day
    2. On a crappy DSL connection over wifi
    3. On a dedicated fiber connection at work
    4. On a regular old Comcast connection hardwired

But I have also missed out:

    1. On a dedicated fiver connection at work
    2. On a 4G LTE mobile phone
    3. On a regular old Comcast connection

etc... obviously trying with 2G or Edge on an old ass phone is a bad idea. Trying on dial up with your Windows 98 computer is a bad idea. Anything remotely modern is a crapshoot though. Unless perhaps you can figure out what data-center the severs are located at, and pay for a server there, and then use that to try to connect.. (I just gave someone an idea)

Thank you. There's no winning strategy. Depending on how the site is run you just hit refresh as many times as you can (if it's allowed? I forget how the site works from year to year) and hope you get lucky, or you sit in queue (with a bunch of devices if you want), and hope you get lucky. It'd be great if there were one "winning" technique, but there isn't.

Sorry I am going to try to attend for the first time this year I was curious if you do buy 2 tickets I assume you have to have another person and cant just claim the two ticket allotment with only one person?

Also wondering if there are any hotel suggestions for possibly Thursday-Saturday night.

Yep, 2 people needed for this these days.

2 people needed, but nothing stops two people from each purchasing two tickets and then going with each other to get essentially double allotments.

I remember 2014 when they accidentally opened ticket sales 15 minutes before they were suppose to go on sale. Myself and all of my buddies got group A and avoided the rush. Glorious, but shitty at the same time.

Yup, that was my first year going. I couldn't complain since I got in, but I would've been furious if I logged on right on the hour.

You would have to go through the bottle line twice. Also they say this is against the rules so if you were caught somehow you could forfeit your second allotment, or event get kicked out.

Well, it's FFF and they're pretty "metal," so I'd assume you'd also be beaten with an electric guitar (or actual axe) before being thrown out.

I've never been, but from what I've been told about the event, going back through the line twice would make it hard to get as good of a variant the second pass through - and as you said - against the rules to begin with so you risk getting kicked out.

No, nothing stopping that, but is damn inconvenient

-prohibitively expensive to drop $460 for one person
-both people need to each win both sets of tickets
-someone would have to drive to stash the first set of beer before going for the 2nd round (have fun staying sober at a beer fest with $80 of drink tickets each to work off + bottle share)
-you are taking valuable drinking time away by going through the lines twice

I'd also add that this runs the risk of FFF going to a 1 ticket purchase per person in future years which would suck for those of us who enjoy bringing a friend in the event they miss out on tickets. I believe that is what is done at Hunaphu Day.

My first year as well. And the last decent weather day. I remember it being chilly and windy but at least it was sunny. Here's hoping to a rain free day.

Has anyone heard how the whole list thing is going at Hampton? Curious if someone's burned the hotel down over not being able to get a room since the dates shifted.

Sorry if this has been covered before, but is there any idea when tickets will actually go on sale now that the date has been pushed back?
