That might be the best part! Granted when I started sharing at 6:30AM last year, I was passed out in my hotel room around 6:30PM. So yeah, if you have plans for after it may be a good idea to skip that morning part.

Also hoping food/drink vouchers are not included in this year's price. We found plenty of drenched vouchers in our pockets the next day.

I'll say that we should hope food/drink vouchers are going to be in there, because I don't see any way they reduce the price. So, you might as well take the food/drink vouchers and see if you use them.

    Hey friends,

I was lucky enough to attend DLD last year, but had to leave early (buddy had a little too much fun a little too quickly).

While I was there, I noticed that some of the variants would randomly pop up on draught. Is there any "cheat code" to knowing when this will happen? I love the bottle shares and guest pours, but I'd be just as happy drinking different variants all day.

Which brings up another point, how about vouchers that don't dissolve instantly upon the first sniff of moisture, especially in an environment that has seen the wrath of hell pour down upon us two years in a row now.

I wish. People just camp out based on rumors or 'vibes' they get from one of the volunteer tap minders. And then they begin to clog the lines and then get kicked out of the lines and then crowd the tap trailer, and then, a variant ends up getting tapped on the other side of the venue instead.

I think it'd be nice if everyone was guaranteed a pour of at least 3 variants, if not all of them--with one-time use vouchers per variant. I think it's ridiculous that attendees of DLD itself are more likely than not to not even taste a single variant while there. I'd rather pay cash for any additional food or beers I want, especially if I knew I'd be able to taste variants I'd never been able to before.

This would be fantastic - I'd be OK with just getting one! I never got a taste of any variant last year at all.

Agreed. I could not believe the tap list last year. Whenever I went out there it was Yum Yum and other common stuff. I was happy to get a cup of regular DL.

Dwarven Power Bottom was the only one I even saw. Kicked 1 person before me in line. Cool guy in front of me shared his. It wasn't great but was at least fun to try. They really need to do better on this next year.

Dwarven was definitely on, one of the guys I was drinking with was cool and grabbed 2 or 3 to split amongst us. REALLY sweet, probably the sweetest beer I've ever had.

I heard Handjee was on around 5, but I was way too drunk by then.

As Tony said a few posts above, it was a little annoying how much of their "regular stuff" was on whenever I checked. Same with the guest taps, they were okay. I heard legends about previous years and was a little bummed. Well, at least until someone else pulled something cool out of their backpack.

I managed to get BA Behemoth randomly last year. Had a couple pours of various years of regular. Best beers I had that day were shares. As much as I love the share aspect, I'd rather see them try to get everyone a pour of a variant.

FMV was on in the tent right next to the warehouse while I was exiting. The line reached all the way to the dark matter booth.

I had '15 Aquavit and it was delightful. Had two pours of it without waiting too long each time.

I had BA Behemoth as well, and while I was very pleasantly surprised (like it way more than I expected), I agree that they should be trying to get everyone pours of the BA DL variants. It'd be like going to a BCS Black Friday event where it's on tap at certain times and coming away having not had a taste of even one BCS variant. Doesn't make any sense.

I get that this is a little bit different, in that the fest itself isn't solely dedicated to Dark Lord (since there are food tents, bands all day, bottle shares, etc.), but if you're paying money to be there, you're not paying money to drink bottles of your own beer (nor are you paying for Yum Yum or Alpha King).

Quick silly question: has anyone see any growlers in prior years, or are they prohibited?

This question has come up before in years past. 3F has stated the only beer allowed into the fest are sealed bottles. So, growlers are a iffy thing. I can say I've never seen one at the event though, so I would not plan to bring one.

I brought a growler once (maybe 5 years ago); can't say I recommend it just due to the size. It took a long time to get through.
