Looking ahead to the aftermath of DLD, what is the best way to store DL for aging? I've read that refrigeration can slow the aging process, which isn't desirable. I've also heard some debate as to storing the bottles vertically vs. on the side.

    What's the best practice here?

A cool cellar, or closet. I have neither, so I bought a mini-cooler that I keep at 55 degrees at all times - works just as well

Most of us keep the bottles in a double boiler rig as soon as we get them home to help accelerate the transition to straight up soy sauce. I've also heard a rumor that one guy keeps them in his basement, away from the furnace and light. There is a forum dedicated to aging beers on here, seems like most agree that bottles top up works just fine (unless you get into lambig aging discussions then you can argue for storage on the side)...

What will happen if you have the same Camero, but the color is royal blue?

That's just too cold for DL.

I swear the only reason this thing trades for a VR (or higher) is due to the acronym.

    More letters, better beer, duh!

    Yes, this!

Exactly...and people think DL is sweet. FL stouts have been trading for ocean sized fish tanks full of whales for a few years now, and they all taste like milkshake flavoring packets. I don't get it.

Capped bottles - like Dark Lord - should be stored upright to avoid contamination with the metallic cap. Corked bottles should be stored on their side to keep the cork from drying out and breaking/crumbling into the beer upon being opened (also the cork will not impart off flavors like a cap will). As far as temp - 55° should be fine.

Usually would agree on the Florida peeps...... but BAIGCCS was a top 5 ever beer, right up there with Handjee, FVM, Pirate Paradise and FO for me, was truly awesome. Not to sweet.

That's the reason we support 3Floyds and DLD, because they don't give us any useful information.

Oh god I'm so sorry. Here, allow me to make up for it:

The abbreviation 3F is stupid, it's FFF all the way. Metal bands are awesome and those who don't like them at DLD are stupid. Cellaring beers is stupid. The brewery not releasing variant info until right before the fest is stupid. Neckbeard cicerones who try to log every single beer into Untappd are stupid. Also, those who don't bother to keep track at all of the cool beers they have are stupid. Planning to meet up for an IP trade when you know you'll be stumbling drunk on 2oz pours of world class beer is stupid. Not eating enough food or drinking enough water and subsequently turning into Garbage Can Guy is stupid. Trying to make a list of beers to bring this long beforehand is stupid. Me not hearing from USPS about whether my tickets have shipped is stupid. Not getting this thread to 100 pages yet is stupid.

    Stupid stupid stupid!

(How was that? I think I covered everything...)
