Have only had last years BADL and it was phenomenal. Perfect balance of sweet and barrel.

Cool thanks. Looks like those were both cardamom like temeculan, hence the low ratings on untappd. Cardamom is what ruined that beer.

Any other DL variants with spices (besides chem)?

I dont think so. Just Earl 2014, Earl 2015, Temeculan, and Chem.

Unless you count Muerte using peppers.

So I can't remember, does Muerte get a lot of jokes on here about how terrible it is? Or is it good? Is it comparable to something like Bourbon Mexican Cake?

I'm not the biggest fan. It's straight pepper with nothing to cut it.

A lot of people really like it though.

Hmmm... maybe if it ages for a while they'll die down?

Any Muerte comparisons to Prop 16?

I typically don't like peppers in beer, but I liked prop 16.

Which one did you have? In 2014 there were only 3 variants: Bourbon Vanilla, Portuguese Brandy, and Earl of Biggleswade. There was no regular Bourbon variant that year.

Muerte is much hotter. And much more pepper.

Prop still has the syrup sweetness, which balances it. Muerte is straight fire. And not in the way the kids use it.

It's still a good beer, but not my favorite.

Oh ok... That makes more sense then...

I thought i had bourbon barrel one.. But must of been brandy.

If the bourbon barrel one gets that much love i guess I'll get that one if marshmellow and FVM are out..

    Thx for clearing that up

No worries. Just wanted to clarify since to me, the 2014 Brandy and 2015 Bourbon were very different animals. So if you didn't like one, there's a chance you would like the other.

As always, you were right on @kodt !

Last years Muerte is the only one I've had and I thought it was pretty good. I should say that I love hot stuff and I was pretty drunk when I had it.

Bourbon DL is always great. In my opinion anyway.

It is pretty bad, they've just done even dumber stuff lately so Muerte has been overshadowed.

How does the heat in DL Muerte compare to Conquistador/Moloko chili?

The only Cognac Muerte I've had is 2012 and it was just straight chili pepper and ridiculously spicy. Everyone agreed it was an instant drain pour.

Oh I agree it was super spicy, but I really liked it.
