I've pretty much nailed down my list of beers that I'll be bringing. All we be drank Fri-Sun (most of them on Saturday of course):

    Casey Cherry Fruit Stand (Stella-8/24/16)
    WeldWerks Peach Climacteric

    Ursula BBA Crustless
    Omnipollo Yellow Belly
    NG R&D Pommier Sauvage
    Regal Rye
    Supplication
    Great Notion Double Stack (Crowler)
    Cerebral Work From Home (Crowler)
Fremont BBA Coffee Dark Star 2016
    Epic Big Bad Baptista

Will be bringing but undecided exactly what beers:
    2-3 Crooked Stave bottles
    1-2 WeldWerks crowlers
    1-2 more Casey bottles

@Sabtos @YoungLad You guys are great and all, but can you two add a TL;DR section at the bottom of your posts?

On second thought, let's not go to Dark Lord Day. 'Tis a silly place.

Bottle shares are great. But I don't want to pay $180 to go to a bottle share.

I also don't necessarily want to spend that kind of money to go a a beer fest.

I'm not even sure I would spend that on 4 DLs +/- a variant.

I think people go for the whole experience; not just one reason alone. However, I would suggest that the competition for variants likely has changed the make-up of the crowd and where their priorities lie.

129+ pages with 11 days til DLD. Guessing after the post-mortem comments this climbs to 300+ at this rate.

Um, yeah, you did call @Sabtos a butthurt flipper in the post I quoted, even ignoring the gross generalization. I've never met you so I have no idea, but in this particular instance, it does make you sound like a dick.

You pick on us about not knowing about the fest, but then blame us variant *****s for the lines. This is only my 2nd DLD, but I'm pretty sure there were lines before guaranteed variants. In fact, the pics make it look like they were a lot longer. So, does that mean the chicken came first or the egg?

You glossed over my point that you used to be able to get in for $30 or less. That's a big thing. FFF made us care more by jacking up the price. I can't choose to get my $50 or whatever back if I don't like my options.

I bought tickets because I had fun last year and got a really tasty beer. I would not have purchased a ticket in Group E for that reason, if it's 2 variants or a questionable variant. That's my personal judgement, I think the price of admission is too steep without a decent variant.

There's a 0% chance I sell my variant. I personally think it's in poor taste and there are more efficient ways to get cash. There's some chance I trade it, but not a good one if I get a preferred variant. You seem to ignore that I said I drank my high demand variant last year. If you want to impugn my character for MAYBE trading my variant, there's a whole subforum of people you can annoy.

Ifind it interesting that you're calling me "Your Excellency" when you're the one telling people what to care about, what to do at the fest, what to do with their variant, and suggesting go to a different fest if I don't agree with you.

Whatever, I'm willing to move on because we obviously don't agree. This series of rants doesn't make either of us look great. I'm perfectly fine meeting for a beer at the fest and forgetting this nonsense.

I agree with Zoomslowik as well.
#1 I know it said Subject to change and yes it said no variant guaranteed by the time I bought tickets but even still a big change from last year and I may have chose not to attend even when I got a group A ticket. If I would have got D or E tickets I wasn't going to purchase a ticket because I knew the variants would be gone or picked over by then. Would have been nice to know this for all groups as well and I probably wouldnt have bought a ticket just based on my feeling it was no longer worth $200.
#2 I would never sell my variant so the max profit conversation is mute to me. I would love to try a Handjee, FVM, or Bourbon DL someday so that is why I am disappointed that dream may be dead again.
#3 I still feel without a variant the cost is a little steep. Yes I know technically 2xDL are around $50 value but I just dont see it that way and never will. Personally four regular DL's is all I really want or need I dont hate it but it isnt a stout I would hoard way too sweet for me.
#4 Everyone is entitled to their opinion so there are two sides to the debate I know. Dont need to keep bashing people for complaining a little.

Any further arguing is pointless. The only way to settle this is to give Sabatos, YoungLad and Zoomslowik guitars and have a shred-off....

    Carry on.

We must bring this Darklord Day 2017 civil war to an end. It must end forthwith. Everyone has an opinion and everyone is a poopy head, especially @croush (even though he's not involved). We cannot allow the Dark Lord to turn ourselves against each other. Dark Lord Day is and will always be the most glorious shit show ever. We are and will forever remain at the mercy of FFF (3F).

I'd be at a competitive disadvantage, as I don't play guitar, but I'm in.

Ok, ok, ok....apologies all for dragging this thread down into the depths that I did. I'll drop it, and let it be.

I'm a poop head from time to time - it happens.

I'm also good with @Sabtos and @Zoomslowik - no worries on my end. Here's hoping the fest isn't a line shit show, and everyone has a great time.

Wow...would love to hear Jester King's opinion on this...

Does ABINBEV have another primarily sour-focused brewery like this?

    Is that the fecal barrel?

    Looks tasty either way.
