That's been up for a bit of debate earlier in the thread. @kodt are you aware of the rules regarding this?

Yea I mean I've only had a handful new line friends bust out anything whale-ish. From a rarity/quality perspective, MOST people tend to bring pretty middle of the road stuff. I mean think of the average beer geek, not the uber-whale geek. Whales are more common then they are in the wild but, still. I look at it this way, I want to share my bigger stuff with my close friends, rather than a rando with a bottle of tweak. If anyone judges you for what you bring and choose to share with strangers, shame on them. That said if you find the 6'6" dude with a bright yellow "Team Stache" shirt, say hi, offer him a taste of something nice and then ask what's left in the backpack....

At this point you're almost guaranteed a few offers of Hoppin' Frog.

Yep the entrance gate. I'm fortunate to have one of my vendors from work let us setup shop in the grass in front of his building. He's literally a few hundred yards from the south gate entrance, unless of course they relocate it from where it's been in the past.

That's kinda where I'm at too. I'm bringing very solid beer, but the REALLY big bottles? Maybe one or two for in the morning when I'm still relatively sober and my palate can still appreciate it, but I'll be drunk enough not to really appreciate it by midday. Why run the risk of not remembering a stellar bottle that I likely won't ever get to try again?

Yeah, I think it's important to put something into perspective - there's what, a few dozen of us uber beer nerds propelling this thread and discussing the super high end beers we may or may not be bringing? There's literally thousands of people at DLD, and most of them enjoy good craft beer, but aren't obsessive like we are. These are people who are stoked to get something like White Rajah or Spotted Cow or Pliny or Jai Alai (and so on...) - things that have enough name recognition to be exciting for a less-intense beer guy/gal but that us here on BA might find less thrilling than a rare barrel-aged stout or sour.

That's why I don't mind packing in a few easy-to-get, but still delicious local brews that anyone outside of Indy might never even have heard of - and I love taking pours like that from other people. For one, there's millions of perfectly delicious beers that will never be famous, but are still, well, perfectly delicious. And for two, who knows when you might taste something from the next Toppling Goliath or Trillium or whatever before they blow up and become impossible to land?

I'm not sure the Mrs. and the In-Laws would appreciate pretzel thongs...

I would hunt you down and pry those bottles from your cold dead fingers, but you're group A and I need to stay in my variant line.

Ya I was at the release party, my sister lives out there. Just happened to be visiting at the right time. Everyone was so hyped about the ABV. Took about 2 hours and 3 or 4 pours before somebody clued me in about why it was such a big deal. Great beer tho. I will also be bringing a 2013 hopping frog imperial chocolate wheat stout that I scooped while I was there. Sounded interesting.

Sigh, fine, I'll help you finish your DBH and DB Cake.

(Seriously, now that you said that I'm harassing everyone in a DA shirt until I find them).

In 2014, Hoppin' Frog made a Pappy Van Winkle BA BORIS that they released on Black Friday. Only Black Friday line I've ever waited in. It was quite tasty and a bit rare. Sold for $16.99 per bomber at the time. I think you can still get it at their brewery in Akron for around $60 per bomber.

I know I said this 40 pages ago, but I think that it's important enough to post again. Do Not Drink Tweak at DLD. I know it sounds like a great breakfast drink (it has coffee yay), but it's 17%!!!! If no one accepts a pour you'll be stuck there sipping on that boozy bastard and next thing you know you are "where's my allotment/Trash can" guy.
